Ok guys. Whats the best pad for applying Zaino products with a PC 7424?? I'm not sure if I should go with flat Sonus pads, Lake Country CCS pads, or Lake Country Hydro pads. I've used CCS pads and it seems to work ok but I do have a bit of trouble getting the product on evenly. I might try a pad for the ZPC and just the basic foam applicator for my Z2 and Z5. Thoughts??? ZPC is their only polish in the line and a light polish IMO. I use it for finishing at best and use a light pad. Some suggest its pad dependant but I had no luck with white pad and light swirls, need something more like Menzerna SIP. For their sealants (Z5 and Z2) you should use a pad with absolutely no abrasiveness (red or blue) or add by hand. Consider using their curing agent if you are doing multiple coats.

If you want to try a product that mimics their sealants quite well, try Four Star UPP. Its slicker too like using Z8 over their sealants.
 
Yeah, I've been using Zaino for quite a while so I'm familiar with the product. I love Zaino actually. I just wasnt sure which of the pads was best. Flat, CCS, or the hydro pads........
 
By the way, our cars are black. Do you still recommend the menzerna sip the most for light swirls?? Thanks!!!
 
^but it is a vette with fiberglass panels. Unless you have a similar year vette also, you can bet the paint will be very different ;)

"swirls" can require a strong polish if the clear coat is tough. It will always be different car to car. But Menz SIP is a strong polish, and I'm sure it would work fine to get rid of swirls on most cars. But it could also be too much for a very soft paint (Mitsubishi Evos, most Honda's, etc.) and might require further polishing to end up with a haze-free finish.

The pad selection will also depend on the paint toughness. Using a PC you should be able to use any pad (the proper size) and finish down properly except on the softest of paints. I personally find it hard to distinguish between many of the brands of pads. They all work fine IMO. Some are better than others, but not enough to make me get rid of the others. Get whatever is on special!
 
Lol, thanks! Sonus has a special and I tend to think that flat pads will work better with Zaino since you have to use it so sparringly. Thanks again
 
Vettes are not really fiberglass, havent been in years. They are a polycarbonate like Lexan. You really dont have to treat them much different but the harder paint does tend well to SIP. I havent found anything SIP doesnt respond to and actually finishes down well.
 
Hey, sorry, I dont have a Vette though. Not sure how that got into the thread. I have a 06 GT and 08 Edge limited. All black as I said. The paint on both is in pretty good shape except for slight swirls. You know black, breathe on it and it swirls. I was thinking the SIP might be too agressive. What about Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0. Might be in between the SIP and Zaino ZPC. I added a picture to my profile page of the Mustang but cant figure out how to get it ito the thread..........
 
SIP and TSR are quite similar and can be interchanged in my opinion. Both work well, have a little more bite initially but then break down rather quickly into lighter polishes. The only reason I might suggest TSR is you can get the smaller 8 ounce version to try or the combo at discount currently (TSR and FG).

I see the 8 oz TSR so thats probably what I'll go with and just a polishing pad. If it ends up too aggressive I should be able to back over it with the Zaino ZPC that I already have and then follow up with the rest of the Zaino. Thanks again for your help!
