ive been using zaino products for years. z-2 or z-5 with a machine pad, imho, is a definite no-no. zaino was developed for easy hand application. also, with zaino, less is better. to get enough on a pad to have the pad properly primed, you would waste more than you need. 1 oz or less will do an average car. remember, if you can see the z5/z2 on the car when youre applying it, you used too much.
if you go over to zaino's website, youll find a lot of good information about the proper use of their products.
 
I was thinking about that as I was reading how to properly prime pads, I would use more priming the pads than I would to do the whole truck three times by hand. Would you even try to use ZPC on a pad to get the swirls marks out or would you use the Meguiar's UC on a pad to get them out?

Normally you would use the least aggressive product to get the job done and by taking this approach you remove the defects while leaving the most amount of paint on the car.

You determine what product you need by doing a Test Spot.

M105 is more aggressive than ZPC

No, similar but not the same. Key similarity is they use the same abrasive technology.

M105 is in the Professional Line, UC is in the Consumer Line, without going into detail, the M105 is bodyshop safe and formulated to be used with a rotary buffer. Pro products intended to be used on body shops must be bodyshop safe. Consumer products, (any companies), might be bodyshop safe but it's not a requirement. I have some articles on working on fresh paint in my article list that touch on this subject.

The practical difference to most people is the method of application and aggressiveness, UC is stated to be a tick or two less aggressive than M105.

I am going to try a test spot to see if the ZPC will do the job, If not I am going to get some Meguiar's. I appreciate the link. Thanks for the clarification Mike.
 
I bought some UC this morning. My questing is, if I get some swirls left behind from the UC, what would be a good follow up polish out of my lineup. Should I get some UP or try my Z5 followed by Z2? Getting excited to try everything out. Gonna wash, clay, and tape off tonight and get up early in the morning to start correcting. Thanks again for all of the help.
 
Use APC with a Lake county smart white pad the reason to use this is so you dopn't have to di an IPA wipedown afterwards like if you used Meg's ultimate compund.

using zaino all in one use a lake county smart pad either green all in one pad or grey finishing pad speed of four.
 
What is a IPA wipe down? I here alot of talk about it.

IPA is isopropyl alcohol which is commonly available at drug stores, Walmart, etc. The intent is to remove residual polishes or anything else that may mask the true paint condition. It is also intended to be sure when you apply a sealant or wax it is being applied to the paint and not oils from polishes not wiped completely off since theoretically anything applied to wax, dirt, etc. is less than the ideal bonding environment.

You need to understand that Zaino "polishes" aren't abrasive polishes as we use the term here. Z-2 and Z-5 are sealants and won't do anything to remove your "leftover" swirls (even if Z-5 claims to "fill" swirls--trust us that have used it--it doesn't). If you have any light marring after the Ultimate Compound, the thing (out of what you have) to use is the Z-PC. That will remove light marring and clean the paint of any leftover polishing oils from the UC (as was alluded to in the post about polishing your paint with "APC").
 
I recently purchased the Cyclo Orbital Polisher to remove swirl marks from my red, '02 Thunderbird. I washed the car and followed with a claybar. I then used an orange pad with Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0. I polished with two coats of Z-5 then applied two coats of Z-2 Pro. I topped it off with two coats of Zymol Carbon. The finish looks better than the day I drove it home new from the dealer

While I think there are many great products, i think your education is what has changed things, not the products themselves. Any good detailer can get fantastic results with Zaino.

That is very possible...I just dont think Zaino is worth the price tag they charge...

I would say "Any good detailer can get fantastic results with <insert favorite brand>". It think it is not the best who can only get results with one but I aspire to do better.
