Ok so today I have cars on the docket... The first is a plain jane 08' Prius that is just a maint detail... In relatively good condition... Then I have a Full correction on a fairly newly acquired (to the owner) 2000 BMW 323i! This is an interesting little sports wagon... I am posting the befores now and will have the afters up tomorrow when it is done...

Prius in the background (not a big fan of the Prius plus he is from Boulder... )

The wheels are NASTY!

Freshly acquired BIRD BOMB (he says as of last night.... WHATEVER it is at least a few days old!)

This is what makes it interesting... The paint and stripping...

Interior is in not so bad standing... (still has the ugly BMW dark wood dash bits but I am working on convincing him to change to the 3M Di-Noc like I did in my Z3... I shall change all Bimmers if I can! lol....)

A bit grungy but I can fix this...

We shall see in the end times this diamond in the rough...

The BMW looks like a great candidate for a correction! Looking forward to seeing the afters! Oh and the striping on the BMW is pretty hilarious, to me it looks a bit out of place...lol

Not a fan of the stripping. Looking forward to the afters!

As far as the striping goes he bought it that way and he seems to like it... It has kinda grown on me since being in the shop... It is different and Bimmer owners as we all know (me being one) are a bit on the loony side... lol... So on with the show...

Step one: Wash with a mixture of Dawn, DP Xtreeme Foam, and DP Auto Bathe

Obviously rinse, hand wash, then dry... (no pics for this)

Then time to clay: DP clay and clay lube (brand new piece of clay)

Nastyness!

Paint be pretty time: GG w Megs MF 5in setup topped with MaxWax (The 50/50 is in some bad lighting sorry)

Wheels were next (this morning sorry no in progress pics. Finished pics @ the end)

On to the interior I went... Not in too bad of shape but the driver side floor mat... I used 303 F&V Cleaner and DP TIC for all the interior then Megs Natural Shine dressing

Don't you hate it when the customer gives you a hard time? So this guy comes to pick up and pay... We go out to the car for him to look over it and mind you this is a $250.00 job not a concourse job... Very mild correction, leather clean and condition, steam cleaning of the carpets, engine cleaning, 1 coat of wax...
He says "it looks alright but could it
come out better?"
to which I reply, "If I could of had the car longer than 8 hours I could bring it a lot closer to what you may be expecting but that would also cost more"
He says "More than $250.00? damn you aren't even worth that much!"
I then politely replied "I did go above and beyond what you originally wanted done and I feel that comment is unfair and impractical, What is it that you are not happy with I may be able to correct it for you if it is within reason"
He said "you shouldn't even call yourself a detailer all you are is a glorified car washer!"

He then threw me a wad of cash and got in the car and sped away! What a pretentious A** That car was not that bad off. He calle me up a bit ago and he complained when there was grease on the door hinges (I clean them with APC then put a fresh small amount on the hinge edges where the metal touches to prevent rust ans keep things quiet). he expected me to remove the wheels and tires and clean the calipers, He ASSuMEd that when I pressure wash the under side of the car I put it up on a 4 post lift and saturate the undercarriage and pressure wash it that way (he saw the shop where the heck did he see a 4 post lift???), He said that the leather made the car smell like spoiled milk (I use Megs Aloe semi flowery fragrance), and that there was grease in the seat tracks (When I clean the tracks I apply a small amount with a q-tip to the inside of the track to make them glide nicely like the do when they are new! they are not supposed to be metal to metal!)... I got kinda snippy with him before he hung up and used "you don't know the difference between a swirl and a squirrel!" then offered him the local Octopus Car Washes - State of the Art Car Washes phone number

I guess that he is just another Yuppy looking for a deal and then getting pissed when they pay little to clean up a 12 year old Bimmer and expect to get a 2011 Bimmer!!!

Sorry to hear your client wasn't satisfied. Looked good to me

Sounds like he was being completely unreasonable. He will find out soon enough when he complains about you to a "detailer", and not a "glorified car washer".

I thought the car turned out great given the time you had. Well done from my eyes.

That is what I thought... The guy in the shop next to mine (he owns a 54'ish Porsche 356 NOT a replica that is concourse perfect) said Man what a turn around! He said if he were to have anyone but himself work on his Porsche he would have no problem handing it over to me to keep it up but he enjoys the days it takes before a show... lol... enthusiast? I think so!

I think I just spotted the guy frequenting the:

So frigging true! I guess you can't please them all! Oh well next car! *hollering at the back door* lol...

Ok so this guy's buddy just called me... Lol... He wants to set up an appointment to have his car done.... LOL!!!!!!! He thought the Bimmer looked amazing! I told him that I will only set up the apt if his friend doesn't come to pick him up or drop him off... Lol... (he knew I was kidding...)

Car looked great. You handled it more diplomatically than I would have. ;) Keep your guard up when you do the 'friends' car. Could be some kind of set-up to get back at you b/c he wasn't happy. Never know.

No kiddin. I probally would've punched that guy in the face!

Flash always want to punch people. :)

:iagree: lol

First off, great job....I've got a few 4 letter words for your client that wouldn't be appropriate on here...but you know what I mean. Sorry the guy was such a jerk (mild 4 letter word lol)...but i think the sweetest revenge is the fact that his friend called you already to get his done.

I think it looked great...the price was very fair, especially since you did the engine too? Yeah more than a fair price...and good work...so hey keep it movin man, like you said "NEXT!"

That is a night and day difference. As far as his comments well umm just look at the pinstripe on his car enough said

You clearly went above and beyond what was needed and the pics prove it.

The owner simply proves you cannot please everyone. At least you can take comfort in knowing you will never have to deal with that tool again.
