Has anyone used Wurth's Zebra Clay. Its white and comes in a fairly large size? I've been using it for a while and to me I think its one of the best clay bars I've used and I haven't had any problems with it. I got it from AG, but they don't sell it any more. What do you guys think about this product, should I continue to use it? THanks

From my experiences using various brands of clay it seems to me that they're all pretty much the same as long as your comparing the same abrasive level (i.e. don't compare mild clay with aggressive clay). I have heard some people state that certain brands of clay break down when you use soapy water as a lube, but I haven't experienced this.

The only thing I really ever tell people about clay is that the clay kits are a waste of money. You get much more clay per dollar when you just buy a chunk of clay. Personally, I already have plenty of QD at home and don't use cleaner wax. Also, even if you don't have QD at home soapy water (only use car wash soap) works well as a lube too.

The real problem with someone going out and buying a chunk of clay (automotive store) is that in most cases they buy something that is to abrasive. Much easier to buy a kit specifically for your needs. All is included, and will easily last for several years.

As for the Zebra clay specifiically, Matt used it on Z at Detailfest. Worked well .... well ... until they decided to use Xenit with it. It destroyed the clay in no time. I personally like Pinnacles Clay (its cheaper now) because it comes in smaller self sealed bars. Drop one , replace it. The canister is a nice storage mechanism also.

I just use the clay while i'm washing the car. Its faster that way, the only thing is it doesn't seem to take out as much. Then again that depends how the paint condtion of the car. Stupid question, but can claying car, while doing it the right way, hurt the paint?

Nowhere near as abrasive as a paint polish. Pretty safe when used properly. Just be careful as some car washes and dishwashing liquids can break down clay rather quickly, it becomes almost fiber looking. Now using clay prior to washing would NOT be a good idea. Almost immediately it would be caked with dirt and grime you are now running across the finish.

I figured it really could do anything. I just wanted to hear it form an expert. And I never try to clay a dirty car, first i wash then go back over with a new bucket of soap and the clay.
