Zep Products

I use their ammonia-free window cleaner, Zep Foaming Glass Cleaner. It has the best scent as compared with other window cleaners I have tried. And inexpensive! I apply it straight from the aerosol can.

Zep purple works great for cleaning tires.

Zep citrus I use in my wheel wells and under my hood. Has a minor gloss to it for a while too. Works great and can't beat the price.

i'd be willing to bet...not a lot, but something...that Zep is likely manufacturing HDX chemicals for Home Depot.

there are other categories that have the HDX branding, right? like tools and garden chemicals? HD probably just made a deal with some of their suppliers to have the manufacturer's branded products made under the HDX private label house brand.

happens all over the mass retail market for pretty much everything so i wouldn't be surprised.

I suspect you are correct. The problem is HDX does not have replacement products (at least yet) for some of the ZEP products, like the citrus degreaser.

Yes, there is HDX stuff all over HD now... trash bags etc., you name it.

I had to go to HD for something tonight and I knew there was something I was supposed to get there...after a while it came to me I was going to try a bottle of Zep Heavy Duty Citrus Degreaser...unfortunately I had forgotten about this over the weekend when I was in Wal-Mart where I bought a bottle of the Mother's foaming tire and wheel cleaner.

So I'm standing there staring at the bottle hemming and hawing over whether to buy it and I notice it says on the front "Warning: Combustible". Um, ok. I deferred this purchase until after I use up the Mother's. I just don't think something that's ostensibly water-based that I'm going to rinse off with a hose should be combustible, although I guess that is different than flammable.

I got turned on to Zep products years ago by some folks at DB that I trust. I have in turn recommended them to many others. Great products, cheap pricing and best of all: no shipping! I use gallons of the Citrus cut at 4:1. For tires, I used to use Purple degreaser and it worked great, but, it's awful caustic stuff that always makes me cough. On a recent recommendation of someone at L2D, I switched to Zep 505 for tires. It also does an outstanding job but does not make me cough. Much better solution. The glass cleaner at 32:1 is just obscenely cheap...and it works great!! The high traffic carpet cleaner is strong stuff that is very effective. They also make their own version of a CLR that is very good. If they made polish, I'd be all over it, lol. They do make a car wax that someone sent me to try.
I continue to use and highly recommend this line of products.

I actually discovered that my local Wal-Mart carries a dew zep products. I found them near the paint section where they had janitorial supplies. This was at a super Walmart. I found out when I was getting some rubbermaid spray bottles.

The last time I picked up bleche white it did not seem to work like it used to. I was at HD and noticed the gallon of Zep 505 that I have read about on AG so I decided to give it a try. I put it in a foaming sprayer and diluted it a little less than 50%. It worked very well. My question is does anyone have experience with it damaging or staining wheels? I had no issue, But before I start using it more often I figures I'd ask.

This is where I picked up their orange cleaner.

The car wash I work at uses some Zep products as well. We use their cherry shampoo, tire shine, and white wall cleaner. I believe the ww cleaner is called lustra wash.

don't some people use the ZEP citrus as a wash to remove wax over an entire car that has wax but doesn't require clay to remove contaminants? Is it best to use citrus wash and clay anyways? I ask because I clayed and waxed the car about two months ago and don't want to clay it again before the correction if I can just remove the wax using a citrus wash.

I use zep citrus on tires/wheel wells and on the engine bay. Works amazing! I bought a gallon once and have not looked back.
Nissenc if you add a small amount to your wash bucket it should stip any wax right off. Just be extra careful not to let the stuff dry on the paint

No, I don't think you'll have a problem. I wouldn't let it dry on them, that's all.
