Zierbart Detailing

I know for a fact that 8 ounces of Chemical Guys Citrus Wash will break down their "diamond gloss" protection. $500 detail w/ protection ruined with $1.56 worth of soap ;) Now how do you feel? :D

And no I did not pay for the detail, it was a customer's car.

hahaha not quite $500, but ya, great

I wrote this post the day before the appointment. The price of the project was included in my loan and it gave me a 5-year "paint protection" warranty through Ford so I took the chance to go through with it. In reality, you need a magnifying glass with the perfect lighting to see a few fine lines (partly due to the metallic flake) and it could have already been there as I was really looking for something. I guess my quarrel is that even if it was already there, a correct detail would have taken care of that. I'm assuming that in order to correct that, I'd need to destroy the sealant they put down and do it all over myself or find someone good in the St.Louis area?

I believe forum member ShineTimeDetail is down in your area. I know he does great work.

Unfortunately removing any further paint defects would mean removing whatever protection the Zierbart or ValuGard people put on your paint.

Although the paint warranty is for 5 years, I can guarantee whatever "sealant" they used isn't going to last that long... With that being said what I would do is ride it out and let the sealant, or whatever they put on the car, chill on there for a bit and do it's job. As soon as you see the beading start to fail start looking into getting the paint properly corrected and re-coated.

Appreciate the reference. I'll look him up. That makes sense bc it's really not bad, I'm more upset about the way they presenting the car with polish everywhere on the rubber etc. I'm totally new to all of this so I don't even know the best way to remove this. I'm supposed to bring the truck back up tomorrow for them to "clean" it up and look at the faint spider line or two and the centimeter scratch on the bed. I currently have been researching to order the best cleaning products so I don't have microfiber towels, soap, or anything yet. I plan on ordering this week. I know that polish shouldn't sit there so what's a boy to do? Will the dealership's "clean up" screw it up even more?

Appreciate the reference...

... Will the dealership's "clean up" screw it up even more?

No problem. In terms of the dealership... It's hard to say. Not all dealership detailers are bad. It's just that some of them don't really get the time they need to work on a car the "right" way. I think that most likely if you are taking it back for them to fix a mistake they will understand that you have high standards and that they need to spend the extra time to do everything correctly.

I again have to stress the importance of reading the disclaimer for the warranty you paid so much money for. You really do need to find out what you have to do on your part to make sure it would not be voided if for some odd reason you had to make a claim.

I will be looking over that thanks.

Went up to the dealer today to have them inspect the "damage". Everything is very minor, but I let them know that I didn't pay a large some of money to have the truck come back looking worst than it did before. They asked me what I would like them to do about it and I told them that the sealant needs to be removed and the entire process needs to be redone correctly. I let them know that I would not let the same people touch my truck and I want "ShineTime" detailing to do the job. They looked up ShineTime's website and told me that they needed some time to think things over and for me to think things over.

I have nothing to think about, so I'll be calling this afternoon asking for them to pay ShineTime directly or give me my money back and I'll take it myself.

In either case, I'm going to be taking it down to ShineTime for some peace of mind. Thanks again for recommendation. He and I laughed a bit over the phone discussing the whole situation.
