Tinted Windows Annoy Me

See now your windshield shouldn't have any tint and if so, something like 50% at the very most. I just don't being told what I can do to my car, what's next, telling people what type of guns they can own when they're law abidding citizens....oh wait, never mind!

You should add this to the what frustrates me behind cars thread.

I have tint on my car. It's not insanely dark. I am photosensitive so it helps with that, helps keep the interior cool, helps hide anything in the car and I kinda like people not being able to stare at me if I'm stopped at a light.

Maybe this makes me sketchy.... Oh, and I have tattoos too :D

Photosensitive? Are you a vampire? ;)

I don't like being told what speed to drive but these things are in place to make sure when people have their moments they don't cause harm to themselves or other.

What about these things?

I think the bottom line is a lot of people tint because they like the look..... Period.
And I'm sorry, but leaving your car unlocked is just dumb.... Many times a thief will walk down a row of cars and pull on handles. If they find one that's open they will go in it. I'm not going to make it easy for someone to steal my stuff. I don't leave anything in the car FYI.

That's why you need the car security system they use in Robocop ;)

LOL- I don't think so :D

What do you mean you don't think so? If you are a vampire you will know.

Here is a simple test:

1. Have you burst into flames recently when exposed to the sun?

2. Do you have urges to drink people's blood?

3. Are you very pale?

4. Is your skin cold to the touch?

5. Do you have a heartbeat?

Those are all signs you might be a vampire ;)

IMO...
The definitive word here is old. It's a societal issue for me.
Then there's also the mention of old quite often here: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/69720-driving-behind-someone-what-frustrates-you.html

As such:
-Since I feel that there is hardly anything as disturbing as being around...or even having to see old people, for that matter...
I appreciate it when they find it in their heart-of-hearts to tint their vehicles' windows.

-This allows myself (and no doubt other motor vehicle operators) one more avenue of escape from their hideousness.

And...As far as:
"pulling them over all day checking their darkness levels"...
Please see hideousness reference above.

Bob, I'm confused (again)...are you talking 'bad' about those of a certain age?

Not trying to start a war, just curious.

Hi Bill...

Although others may often do so...
No...I'm not talking bad about those of a certain age. LOL!

It's not accurate for CA. While CA does list a percentage allowed, it also explicitly states you cannot apply ANY permanent film to either front window. When I had the CHP sign off on my last ticket he told me tha thu aren't out to ticket everyone and if you have light tint, they will most likely look the other way. If its dark, they will issue you a ticket. Mine were metered at 13%...way to dark.

Maybe I'm getting old or something but when I see a vehicle with tinted windows so dark you can't see the person that really makes me angry. Is that weird or what?

What are they hiding? Who are they? I wanna know! Are they that insecure they have to hide?

I'm glad I'm not a cop, I'd be pulling them over all day checking their darkness levels. lol

You don't work for the NSA, do you?

See now we've got to the point in the thread where its making sense, talking about tint levels and I agree with that 100% and here in Illinois the legal % is 30% and IMO, that's more than enough to keep you cool and looking cool. The limo tint is just crazy and really cuts down on what you can see and more importantly NOT see and tinting the front windshield should be limited to 50% at the very most. Having not lived in the southwest before I'm sure the tint is more of a NEED than a WANT, 105-120 degree temps, crazy, imagine the beating your interior bit take in that, WOW!

sorry original poster, but this thread is an uber fail...tint has many practical purposes for all the reasons people have listed above.

I just got AirBlue 80 put on my entire front windshield. And I have 25% all around. I love the reduced heat and UV protection.

I don't think that 5% tint looks good on most cars. It's just to dark. And dangerous at night. I'm just not a fan of the blacked out look anyhow.

Pic of the difference in the llumar air blue 80 nano ceramic tint in the front, 3m 25% on the sides and the sky

why would you start a post like this?

Reminds me of the neb nose neighbor from Bewitched, some people just need to know what others are doing. Waste of good forum space if you ask me. (I know, nobody asked me) :bolt:

Yeah people care about this for sure and LEGIT reasons have been brought up, logical thinking peoples reasons at that. As far as a waste of forum space, well I respect your opinion Dave but just don't respond to any of it then;-)

I'm just glad they changed the law here in Illinois when I moved here from Michigan where its illegal to have tinted windows. Now if we could just lose the stupid front plate law it would be a good day for all, car looks TUUUURIBLE w/ the front plate.

I have 20% all the way around, including the sunroof. NOT the windshield. I think any darker and I'd have issues seeing at night... but then again I'm getting old :D
