Buying staff from Autogeek.net

To the OP, save your money and make big orders to meet the minimum free shipping promo and also save 15% on your products. This will be cheaper than Amazon with prime. If you can't wait then just order from Amazon and stop whining. I've been ordering from here and other websites for years and have never paid for shipping and have saved hundreds of dollars by taking advantage of 15-20% and BOGO deals.

I don't think I have ever paid for shipping and I have ordered a lot in the past year. I either wait for free shipping sales ($125+), make big orders (free shipping $500+) or use free shipping over X amount coupons. :dblthumb2:

shop around there are plenty of places to buy from, sometimes you have to go outside the box...

I shop all kinds of detailing sites and find the cheapest prices. If it not AGO then I ask them to beat the price and they do. I also wait until they have a big sale and order all kinds of stuff so I get the free shipping. When buying products its not that hard to hit the $125 mark. If your a one item buyer then just purchase it on Ebay or Amazon but if you put a little effort into it and have the time to wait then AGO is hard to beat and they are great at helping you with any problems on your order. PLUS they ship to me in 3 days now for free. WESTSIDE<><><><><>

The shipping prices make it hard for me. I have an Amazon Prime account so I get free 2 day shipping as long as it ships from Amazon.

I remind myself that Amazon does not provide a messageboard, or expert staff to help me. So, as a general rule, if I decide on a product because Nick, Mike or one of the others has taught my something about it, or one of their great videos have helped me make my decision, I try and buy it from them. With free shipping coupons it usually comes out okay.

The shipping is tough though. I wonder if AG could consider a 'preferred customer' system similar to companies like Amsoil offer. Essentially pay an annual 'fee', and get free shipping and occasional discounts. I know it's probably a little tougher, I'm sure Amazon uses it's weight to negotiate really incredible deals with the major carriers. Things AG probably can't do.

Back in the day, I owned a business that sold DVDs on eBay. Our distributor (a site anyone could order from) drop-shipped the DVDs for free, but we charged shipping (aka: our profit). Included in every shipment was an insert from our "distributor", yet surprisingly we had repeat customers...

Anyway, that's beside the point. The point is, I looked into Amazon as an option at one point, but at the time, and may still be the case, they had a limit on shipping rates a seller could charge. This may be the reason for the shipping rate discrepancy between AG and Amazon. It may not be, it's just a theory.

In almost all of my online purchases, I try to structure my purchases so that I am buying product, not peanuts.

I'm grateful for Autogeek and everyones advice. And i'm not trying to be a smart @$$. Everything you listed are incidentals of doing business. Social media, marketing, flooring, the passing on of manufacturer to dealer specials. If they didn't have an online forum, events, or Mike P, i would imagine they wouldn't be nearly as big as they are now. With everything that they do, i'm sure they're very profitable. I give my free advice and offer my free assistance each and every single day. Only about 20% of people i talk to become my client. My pay checks would be much smaller if i deny service to some.

All i wanted was at least a discount on shipping when AG offers free shipping to the upper 48. At least the same amount of subsidy if the shipping costs more. USPS is the same price throughout the entire United States for regular sized packages. I'm starting to feel like a second class citizen =(

Your right they do that to market their product, just like commercials.

Folks, I agree and understand, I also have a Amazon Prime account for just this reason too. Free shipping 2nd day is HUGE! But I also run a business and shipping charges are out of control the last few years. Just go to UPS and try to ship something, wow. Actually the USPS is a better deal now, it may never arrive and you can't really track it but it's a better deal and it's flat rate, (just a suggestion).
As for buying on Amazon cheaper, well I would think as the manufacturer they need to maintain a MSRP or they would have no dealers. The Manufacturer selling to end users for less then a dealer is a sure way to loose your dealer base because they can not maintain a profit. If the dealer decides to sell for less then MSRP and limit their profits they can do this and a lot do based upon volume, and "if I sell more I make more" principal.
So in the long run you are still supporting AG when you buy from Amazon and it helps pay for all the things listed above, plus you know what your getting. Shop smart and buy where it makes sense for your dollar. I think the fact that I can get basically unlimited fast support for any question worth doing a little price surfing. Thanks AG!

Only guys I really feel bad for is the Hawaii guys. They are on U.S. soil, so it seems they should be able to take advantage of some of the free shipping promotions and stuff.

Canada? Don't get me started.

I somewhat understand why they can't. Packages have to cross the pacific ocean. It is different than ground shipping to the other 48 states.

Yeah, but I see it as USA guys and Hawaiians (not a state at the time) died on the soil over there defending this country, so it should all be the same. You just have to go over to Pearl Harbor and watch the oil still bubbling up today from the Arizona to think "Hawaii should get all the promos too".

Most of my car care stuff comes from Amazon in a PBMG carton.

Just priced the exact same products on Amazon and AG.

M105 32 oz - 27.99 - AG
M105 32 oz - 27.99 - Amazon

M26 - 16 oz - 15.99 - AG
M26 - 16 oz - 12.99 - Amazon

Shipping - 12.95 - AG
Shipping - FREE - Amazon - 2 Day....

Total - AG - 56.93
Total - Amazon - 40.98

I've never figured out how Amazon does it. If I have less than $100 to buy I usually go to them since I have prime there. If I have more than $100 I buy from AG. One thing that is also not as good as Amazon is the shipping time. If I order something from AG on Monday they get it out, but I receive it at the house at 7:00 PM on Friday. If I order it from Amazon I have until Wednesday to get it at the same time. They lose business because of the shipping time and money.

I would think most folks here want to support AG due to the forums, advice, etc., but there are times a hobbyist that it is problem to wait 5 days to receive your stuff since the weekend is the only time you have to do the work.

I understand that but it still doesn't change its geographical location as a series of islands in the middle of the pacific. Have you looked on a map and seen how far it is away Hawaii is from the coast of California? It somewhere around 2500 miles.

What I do is just save, save and save. Then wait for a sale and place an order on AG. Plus, during the waiting period I do a lot of reading. So with the help of AGO and AG customer service. I have been one happy customer.

+1

Isn't Hawaii closer to Asia than it is North America? I seem to remember hearing that (far too lazy to look it up now).

Yes they are 'Americans', but they are Americans living in an area with a much higher cost of living because of their geographical location. And it doesn't change the fact, no matter how many emotions we can tie to it with former wars or their citizenship, that it would cost shipping carriers millions or more to ship to Hawaii'ns for the same price as mainland Americans. Big business doesn't ever take from their own pocket. It would just raise the prices on everything to account for that particular high overhead area. So we would ALL pay higher shipping rates. Sometimes life just ain't fair.

Just say no to socialist shipping! :buffing:

I did't realize how many people think same way as me. I undestend we have 2 groups of people here professionals and just weekend worriers.
I do not need $125 orders and maybe never do, but I greatfull to AGO
for everything they do, that why I like to by from them not from anybody
else, to make my contribution to a great company that AG represents.
But hear me out-$12 botlle of soap and $7 shipping it's wrong business model I think.
