I've seen people cover the rotors and calipers with a plastic bag before using iron x on these braking systems.[/URL]
That sounds like a great idea - thanks!
You know I never understand why people feel the need to take their discussions to PM's?
In fact, I'm just the opposite, I prefer people to "talk" on the public side of the forum.
Mike, to bring the discussion back onto the forum, so to speak, here is the list of products I PM'd Cosmin.
I only use a Dual Action machine (megs equivalent) and have a range of
pads:
LC CCS Orange/White/Black
LC Flat green
LC Cyan
LC Tangerine
LC Crimson
Menzerna Black
I usually use Menzerna
polishes and have
FG400
PG1000
PF2500
SF4000
SF4500
I also use Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish from time to time (have not used 105/205)
I have a few
glazes
Poorboys white Diamond
Chemical Guys Black light
Chemical Guys wet mirror finish
LSP's are:
Collinite 845
Petes 53
Smartwax Smartsealant
Meguiars NXT
Wheel cleaners:
Meguiars All Wheel and tire Cleaner
Autofinesse Imperial concentrate
Can easily grab some Sonax FE (if that is a better option?)
Decontamination
AF oblitarate
AF Iron out
Clay Magic Blue clay
My initial game plan is to try get the wheels done only using shampoo, and if required go with a weak dilution of AF Imperial. I will de-tar and de-iron (AF Iron out) unless someone here advised not to (with a good reason as to why). The idea of blocking off the rotors with a plastic bag or similar is a good one.
In terms of decontaminating the paint, will it still be safe to use AF oblitarare/Iron Out? Is there anything on the Ferrari in terms of rubber trim/emblems/carbon fiber bits etc where these products could cause damage?
Polishing will be my usual approach of least aggressive combo + test spots till I dial in something that works.
I am then contemplating Blacklight for a little something/something - remember I will not be targeting 100% correction so if the BL offers a little filling at the end I am ok with that.
LSP I thinking SmartSealant topped with Pete's.
If anyone sees any fundamental flaws in my planned approach, I would appreciate some feedback.
Thanks and regards
Lawrence
