2005 BMW 330i ZHP one step correction

This is my own car, a 2005 BMW 330i with the ZHP performance package. It was in need of some minor swirl removal and leftover rotary holograms from a previous detailer, so I thought I would give it a good one step correction. The defects are really hard to spot in the Orient Blue paint, even though it is pretty dark. On to the good stuff!

Products used:

• CG Citrus wash
• Sonax wheel cleaner
• Dodo juice clay lube
• DI detailing clay
• Various DI MF towels
• Blue/green masking tape
• Meguiar's M205 on LC white pads (5.5" and 3") via PC7424xp
• CG EZ-Creme glaze by hand
• Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant on LC black pad via PC7424xp, and by hand

Process:

1. 2 bucket wash and dry by hand/compressed air
2. Clay
3. Mask trim
4. One step machine polish
5. Hand apply and remove glaze
6. Machine apply sealant and hand remove
7. Final inspection

Trails and holograms on the hood, from what I suspect was previous rotary work:

Ahh right, I forgot to mention my next step was to dress all the plastic trim on the outside, hah. I didn't get around to doing that or the tires as I was doing the car after work last week.

Well that shine didn't last long. Took my car in to get a few door dings taken out by a guy that was recommended as the best in the biz at door ding removal. I cringed when he pulled his Makita rotary off the hangar with a crusty looking black foam pad, squirt some polish on the door panel and starting buffing away. Followed that with a wipe down with a dirty looking MF towel that he pulled out of his door ding tool bucket...

I didn't notice when he finished the car as it was dark out and they were rushing me out of the shop for some class.

Ugh...now I get to fix this poor workmanship...at least he did a good job getting my door dings out...

Other guy, not so much...Downright horrible actually. I'd make him pay you, at least for the materials, to rework it.
That's pretty bad clean up work...

Yes I know. This was an ongoing detail job being that it was my own car, I hadn't gotten to the trim/tires yet. I just posted to display the polishing outcome since some others asked in a different thread :buffing:

I called him to discuss the issue. Basically let him know his buffer/pad/technique or something was causing damage to the paint. He offered to bring it back and he would fix it, but I really don't want my car to see that buffer again

He did good with the dent removal (and good prices), so I'm just going to leave it at that and fix the swirls myself.

Hopefully images of the dressed trim and tires coming soon icture:

I doubt the guy has the skills or knowledge to fix his buffing "mistake". Oh well, at least you know how to fix the damage he induced. Maybe you could give him a "good deal" or trade some dent work for some some buffing lessons. :xyxthumbs:

Ask for a discount/refund on the ding repair since he damaged your detail job. Like I'd say $100.00.

Got the other blemishes all fixed up with a white LC pad and M205. Re-glazed the areas and re-sealed.

Back outside, this time with a quick dressing of the trim and tires Did a light coat on the tires for a not so shiny/greasy look:

I wanted an all season tire that I knew worked good in Colorado. I had them on my old e90 BMW (avatar) and liked them a lot with that car. I am thinking about getting a set of separate summer wheels/tires, however.

Better question would be why no Pilot Super Sport or even why no Hoosiers
