This thread was great. Three pages of people trying to convince him of something he clearly isn't going to be convinced of and just doesn't want lol. I started to think a lot of people here might work for this company. FWIW Opti coat sucks unless your someone that only cares about protecting your vehicles paint. It does not have the shine and depth of sealants or waxes. True car enthusiasts usually don't like it. OP I hope everything turned out okay.
LOL. I greatly enjoyed your post and I agree about the looks and that Opti Coat sucks as far as I am concerned. I tried to be very clear up front that I had no further interest in Opti Coat, but I guess I was not clear enough or people just did not believe me because the Opti Coat cheerleaders came out in droves to convince me otherwise. I too suspected some of them may work for Opti Coat (or maybe make a lot of money selling it as a car detail item as some sort of magic).
What I thought was very funny was how some people could just not fathom how anybody would not just love Opti Coat. Like it was beyond comprehension. LOL.
People also seem to grossly exaggerate its protective quality until something damages it, and then the excuses come out. It is not as bullet proof as claimed (even bird crap can eat though it). As clearly shown in this thread, if something does happen to it good luck getting it off and doing any correction. If something eats through my wax, I can repair the area a hell of a lot easier.
Also, as someone pointed out above, it may not prevent oxidation either on single stage paints, so why would I want it on permanently (then we find out it may not be as permanent as claimed)?
At the end of the day I prefer working with good waxes to maintain my car. I have had outstanding success during my lifetime with waxes on my cars over the many years that I have owned cars so I honestly think my car will be better off with the waxes I choose than Opti Coat.
