This is part of a research project I am doing for multi brand store launch abroad. I would like to know which compound do you tend to reach out for most of the time. Obviously, it should be versatile enough to work on most paint types.

Feel free to post why you like it ( Less Dust, Short work time, long work time, finishes well, cuts faster etc.)

Also, does anybody know if I can add a poll to this thread?

If I could only have two polishes they would be Meguiars M101 and Carpro Reflect.

I mostly use Me z Fg400 and Sonax Perfect finish

POLISHANGEL MASTER COMPOUND. Cuts like FG400, finishes out like FF3000. No dusting. Smells nice

Opt Compound II
Stands toe-to-toe with Megs 105
Dusts less
Long work time
Easier to remove

105 for really bad defects, it will dust on you but it gets the job done, a little harder to work with but I've used it many times and never failed me, must follow with 205 because the 105 doesn't finish down so well.

Now I just ordered Wolfgang Über Compound and used it this weekend on a truck and here to say that the above statement is true but I'll only use Über now.
Long work time, very little to no dusting, wipes off very easy.
The cut is close to the 105 without the problems I listed:dblthumb2:

WOLFGANG ÜBER COMPOUND

What's the difference between M105 and M101/M111? 105 has been around forever and I though it was originally designed for use with wool pads, doesn't it work just fine with foam pads?

I wonder why nobody ever talks about Optimum polishes. I just tried the Hyper Compound. Is that just Compound II in a spray bottle? I found it to have rather short working time compared to M105, two passes and no signs of it on a rotary. Rather tough to clean the pads too.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD A POLL TO THIS THREAD?

Gary Dean said that if Jesus was a compound it'd be M101.

I've never used it but i'm a fan of 105 and UC.

Whats more aggressive, fg400 or m105?

I don't believe there is an M111???

M105 cuts great but it dusts and dries (flashes) very quickly.
It can be revitalized with a spritz of water but then it splatters.
M105 finishes with a matte look that needs at least a second step.
IMHO it is finicky and is difficult to work with. Needs M205 to follow.

M100 was designed for the US for use with a rotary and wool pads.
It can be used with a DA and Megs mf discs. It leaves a good finish.
It leaves a better finish than M105 & in most cases it finishes good.
Easier & cleaner to use, more lubricity & more work time than M105.

M101 was designed specific for the European market for foam pads.
It can be used with a DA & Megs microfiber discs. It has a great cut!
IMHO It does dust a bit but it leaves a very nice (almost LSP) finish.
A drop or two of D300 on the mf disc with M101 eliminates dusting.

M101 (M100 if the paint's right) then Carpro Reflect is a killer combo!
It is my 1-2 go-to combo for paint correction and gloss enhancement.
NOTE: When using microfiber discs be sure and keep the disc clean!

...if Jesus was a compound it would be M101.

I haven't used many "compounds", but Optimum has a long work time, doesn't dust, and works well. It may not have the cut of M10whatever, but it's pretty simple to use and easy to wipe off. It finishes just about LSP ready for me.
