The newest fan of ONR

I use ONR to clean my house (1:16). Its great for wiping down almost anything and doesn't leave streaks. I guess you could say I did a waterless wash to my house yesterday with ONR. It also smells pretty good.

Does that include windows and mirrors?

Optimum ONR is awesome! I have found however it makes floors a bit slippery.

I use it to clean glass tabletops and mirrors. Also, it works great on a lot of processed wood finishes, the kitchen, or on a towel to dust with. I also use it on counter tops, etc... Almost anything. Its a lot better than the Windex most people use.

As an apartment dweller onr is a god send.

+1. Or a waterless!

I'll never live in an apartment again. I knew I was going to be in this location temporarily, I knew the housing market in the area was iffy and I knew I didn't want to deal with selling or renting a house when I move. I also knew that the rent for a two bedroom apartment is a mortgage on a 3 or 4 bedroom home! So, being a cheapwad, I went for an inexpensive, but newer/nicer 2 bedroom apartment that's small and has just 8 units (one building).

No garage, noisy, inconsiderate neighbors; and I have two choices to park my car. Either down at the end where unsupervised kids play on their bicycles and throw things at each other right over the cars, or closer to the front where people with peeling clearcoat and 6 years worth of fast food wrappers in their front seat are going to bang their doors into my car!

Never again! BUT; for the time being, a rinseless or waterless wash has been a godsend for sure. Excellent way for my to keep my car clean. Also a conversation starter. Have this little old lady who owns the one other clean car (although it's swirled to high heavens- bless her heart). She's out there about every day wiping down the interior with some old rag or taking paper towels and windex to the exterior of the car to get bug guts and bird bombs off. Been trying to educate her on what microfiber towels and a waterless wash will do! (Even offered to do it for her- she's super sweet, in her late 80's, I don't mind.) But she likes the way she's been doing it for years so- go for it! I'll take her swirled up, but clean jeep over the peeling, pitted, smelly, haven't-been-washed-in-years cars everyone else drives!

Interestingly enough, I don't have to worry about our motorcycles. We have 2 cars and 2 motorcycles parked here- the two bikes share a spot. That spot is OFF LIMITS around here. Nobody will park there, and kids are afraid to play around there. Can't tell you how many times I've heard someone yell "Stay away from those bikes!". I guess they have a perception that shiny chromed-up motorcycles aren't something you mess with. But cars are just no big deal as long as it's not a high-end import! I've never been any more vocal about the bikes than the cars. Found a nice red streak of paint transfer on my old car, and the gold paint from my car or my neighbors red Monte Carlo. When they told me it was no big deal because my car was old, I about lost it. But I didn't! I just said, hey, no problem, I'll give you a copy of the police report and let you know when the court date is! Suddenly- he realized it was a big deal after all!

Agreed... I use it in a spray bottle to wipe and clean almost everything I want to clean in my household, windows, basin, computer tables etc

I know this is old hat for most of us here but ONR made up a QD is a great idea and it saves you money, making a gallon of QD from rinseless is dirt cheap, add 2 ounces of KSG to the mix (Klasse Sealant Glaze) and not only does it shine and clean but protects as well, an unbeatable combo!

I'm also a huge fan of ONR. Living in a townhome development where I can't haul a hose to my car, ONR has really been a home run for me. I use it as a QD for wiping off bird bombs and water marks, clay lube & some general around the house duty. For wheels & engine bay cleaning w/ ONR, I just have a dedicated MF sponge & towels that don't get used anywhere else.

I've never thought of adding KHGSG. Does it haze at all for you? I noticed with my 8:1 water to ksg dilution, I get hazing and swipe marks in the sun

I've never gotten any hazing doing it this way but what does an 8:1 water to KSG do for you, what's it used for?

I bought some ONR to try as a quick detailer and clay lube, but haven't mustered the courage to try a rinseless wash yet...

That said, I've got a black Porsche daily driver that sees a lot of dust and pollen and thought that ONR might help me keep in clean between major washes. I did a 2 bucket wash, clay, DA polish, and hand applied blacklight/V7 last weekend, but the car was covered in a thick layer of dust by the following weekend.

Would ONR be able to safely take off a week's worth of dust and pollen on soft black paint? Sadly, my car shows every last water spot, speck of dust, and will scratch if I use the wrong type of microfiber cloth.

So I'm still looking for a good maintenance regimen between LSP applications. A single wash took away most of the blacklight/V7 shine that I had from a week ago. Another application of V7 brought some of it back, but not all of it....

I'd love to hear whether you think ONR would be a better choice for this type of wash...

Thanks, all!

Presoak with ONR in a sprayer, use extra plush microfiber towel, be aware of your pressure while washing and drying, and wash from top to bottom changing to a clean towel as dirt accumulates on your wash towels. Bottom line is that it takes pressure and dirt to cause scratches.

+1. I use it inside as well. Cleans better than household glass cleaners and leaves surfaces streak free.

The ONR will become your go to wash more than likely, except when its really, really dirty but you could hit the quarter wash to get the top level of dirt off and then do the rinseless. The use of ONR/rinseless as a pre-soak is also another idea, welcome to the world of rinseless washes!!!

ONR is awesome, been using it a bit more recently when the car is only somewhat dirty. Throw 1oz into a 32oz bottle for a pre-spray then 1.5oz (1oz and just an extra squirt) into 2 gallons of water, throw 4-5 MF towels in the bucket and you're good to go. I think the trickiest part of ONR is drying it correctly and I use the "old garry dean" way with a bit of a twist. Since I now have Sonax Polymer Netshield on the car what I like to do is take one of the towels I soaked in ONR and completely wring it out so its just damp then spray some Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer on it front and back and do my first drying pass with that. After that I come back with a dry MF and buff it off. I find you eliminate streaks this way and also you boost your LSP.

I usually have enough left over to do the wheels/wheel wells/tires afterwards as well. ONR is great stuff, one of the original pioneers in the rinseless industry.

Great info. Thanks, geeks! I'll give one of these methods a try and report back.

Im interested in onr for cleaning up road salt, but also as clay lube is this good for both ?

Yeah, you make some up in a seperate spray bottle and pre-treat one panel at a time when using it as a rinseless wash. Works great as clay lube, use the same dilution as pre-treatment and you'll be good to go.

Klasse Act,

When you do the quarter wash first, do you dry the car and then follow with the ONR? I know from experience that I tend to see a lot of spotting if any of the panels dry before I get to them with a waffle towel or a soft MF and QD....

I spray ONR using a garden sprayer on the panel and then use the two bucked method w/ ONR on my black BMW. It is the ONLY wash I now use on my car regardless of how dirty it is. Do some reading on using this and work smart and you'll be satisfied. I think w/ all of the lubricants ONR is more safe than traditional washing when you have a lot of product on the surface.:dblthumb2: ONR works great on dirty vehicles and is even better on one that is only slightly dusty!
