Possible Spring 2014 Chicagoland Detail Day?

Couple questions...

1) where can I get 303 aerospace? I bought it online 10yrs ago. Cant find it anywhere SW burbs...
2) what do the terms LSP and ISP mean? i gather the P is for polish[/QUOTE]

1). I've never bought 303 from a local store but I know it's made here in Illinois. I looked up retail sellers. I found many lees auto parts, bumper to bumpers and marine stores carry 303 products along with a couple ace hardwares.

2. Lsp stands for last step product which usually is some type of protection whether it be a carnauba wax, sealant, or coating. I have never heard of isp. I've heard of ipa which is Isopropyl Alcohol.

Agthang thx. I started another thread so dont wanna hijack this one. I found the 303. Lee auto a block from my work. Will get some this week.

Would love to attend, Woodstock is a bit of a haul though...But maybe I'll make it. I am totally green to car detailing but just got a new vehicle and want to take care of it. I'm thinking I'd learn more on May 18th than in a year reading these threads. Pic below.

SW burbs isn't that far of a drive and your right about what you'll learn here, lots of enthusists there to directly show you how to care for that new Soul Red CX5, love that color....a lot, its like the new official color for Mazda! At this meet you'll see how rinseless and waterless washes work, polishing techiques, various products to try and general car banter, its all going to be there to absorb!

I did hear from Forrest@Mother's and he is infact going to send me some "stuff" to give away to the group, so we have our first official sponsor of the event, I think another one is being worked on as well too.

The one thing we haven't discussed is what time to start/end the event. I'm an early riser, especially for this and because its out in the middle of nowhere, kinda, an early start allows some "spirited" driving once were out and about heading there, LOL! So Jeff, what do you think about this?

I'll put it on my calendar. My bday is the 17th, too, plus i'm building a house so there will be a lot going on during that weekend! I hope to meet you guys. I'm sure it will be fun.

Add me to the list, I have it on the calendar to make it out. Weather permitting I'll drive my Avanti that is on a couple episodes of My Classic Car/ Autogeek Garage this season. Also I work for 303 so I'll bring some giveaways along with. View attachment 25556

We have an industry insider, a classic car and one that was on TV, our celebrity or celebrities are here! Love those Studes, saw one at the Father's Day carshow at Oakbrook last year that had Halibrand knockoffs and it was awesome, white w/ red interior!

Looks like our group is coming together nicely! Oh BTW Jeff, I need the addy to The Car Cave as I forgot to add it to the other thread with the people coming and what they're bringing. I'm sorry I forgot to add that to the thread, brain fart.

Roger when you get a start time you going to post it here or on the sign up page?

I'm completely flexible regarding start & stop time for the event. I will probably be there relatively early to open things up and get us ready.

I do understand that we need to be sensitive to those that have a long drive to get there.

A couple of us are going to meet somewhere near North Avenue and 355 to head out there, so we'll have a couple cars rollin' in together.

I plan to make a day of it so whatever time you'd like to start things Jeff is great, just let us know what's a good time to roll in. I can only speak for myself but I'm going to do a rinseless wash when I get there so I'm "factory fresh" but to those whom want to see the rinseless in action, please let me know and I'll bring enough so we can do your car too. More than one wanna try this, no problem as I'm sure others can bring some rinseless and show you by doing your car too. I will have my buckets w/ lids and enough rinseless to do my car and one more.

Its a little over 2 monthes to go!

Well I'm not sure I'm going to make it but it's on my calendar of "to do" stuff. I just got my GG DA (look at that, only a week into it and already using acronyms like a pro) yesterday and some pads. I ordered up some Carpro rayon pads to do the windows on my wife's car. I am hoping that comes out good and I can show my results at the meet.

If it doesn't come out good, all the more reason to get there and talk to you guys about it!

I hope to also detail the paint on my new car prior to then as well.

It sounds like Mothers is hooking us up for our meet, I guess the list is pretty impressive! Along with that we've got what our fellow members are bringing as well as our 303 Aerospace guy (sorry, I'm on my phone and can't really go back and get your name:-[) coming along and bringing some stuff too, things are turning out great!

Its probably a good time to let those coming to bring small bills to chip in on the pizza too, not sure what its going to cost but somewhere between $5-10.00 should be enough, just thought I'd mention this so we don't have everyone with $20's and trying to get change, thank you inadvance!

The invite is still out there to noobs, this is what the event is for as well as seasoned vets, teaching and having fun in the garage as it were. A lot of have been using rinseless for a couple years now but I know there's going to be some there whom really wanna see this in action for the 1st time and there's really something to be said to someone seeing this stuff work inperson for the 1st time! IIRC the list we had here had 12 people and the new list has about 7, so the turn out is coming along nicely and like I said the door prizes are looking pretty good, I see people making 2 trips to the table more than likely, so not only will you go home with more knowledge and getting to put a face with a screen name but also a couple nice gifts too!

Question, is the setup available to actually detail my car if I came out? Is this feasible? How long do you guys tyoically take to wash, clay, buff out and lsp your car? Never done it before so sorry for the rudimentary Q.

Considering that our host details cars out of his place its set up for that for sure and with all the extra bodies floating around I'm sure we can all help with this, even though we've got a donor car to do already. That donor car will have everyone doing a panel and/or section, finishing with their LSP choice for the ultimate test of products in "real world" tests.

Glad that the weather is finally breaking, now we need a good rain to melt the snow that has so much crap and salt in it, then a good rain to rinse the roads down and finally our city and county crews to fill and/or repair the potholes....PLEASE!

I'm sure we can work something out with the car detailing..

I hit a major pothole last week that was filled up with rain water so it was invisible, worst pothole i ever hit!!!! Hurt like heck too!!!

Thanks Roger for continuing to set all this up! :)

No problem, with everyone pulling together resources and showing up, combined with our gracious host, this is actually coming together as a group effort!

We should try a little get together at Strats on a Saturday afternoon to have lunch, like the locals in the area, what do you guys think?

Roads are horrible. If you haven't left for work yet, you are going to be late.
I will tell you that the coat of Reload thar I applied Sunday really made the snow removal very easy this morning. The snow just slid off!
