Possible Spring 2014 Chicagoland Detail Day?

I will tell you that the coat of Reload thar I applied Sunday really made the snow removal very easy this morning. The snow just slid off!

Can I coat my driveway in Reload? :)

'cuz this snow is makin' me want to reload!

Because my car has the 3 season tires on it and its a little late in the season to get snows I've been catching a ride to work with my wife, this means I have to get up and get going early too, get to work and sit around and wait to start work. This has actually worked out good lately because I've been able to start early due to the weather. Anyways I'm in Elk Grove Village and work in Palatine and take 53 all the way up, did 45 mph all the way, wet to slush and that's it, this was between 6:15 a.m. and 6:45 or so, no issues.

Good luck to those who've gotten more and/or don't have the roads as cleared off and/or salted.

I'm in Westmont, working next to O'hare in Rosemont. I was considering going from my 4WD to a 2WD but this winter made me choose AWD when I got a new car a couple weeks ago. Today, I'm waiting it out. I usually go in at 5:30 but will leave at 9am.

Roads are horrible. If you haven't left for work yet, you are going to be late.

I got a ride in to the office this morning in the wife's AWD TBSS. She said something about bald tires and wrecking the G8...

After lunch I went back to the office in the booboo van. At the stop sign at the end of our street the entire roof load of snow went down the windshield and hood. Meg's D156 over Adam's Quik Sealant makes for a very slippery surface. :props:

Ahhh, I remember now, love the Soul Red on Mazdas! Hope you get to make it out to the event. The thing is sure we'll have special cars there but because this is a detailing forum its all about the car looking good as well, so what some people would call "regular" cars are special cars at this event.

So DetailGuy, are you coming to the event still? IIRC your the 15 year old who's into detailing, right? I can tell you that at 15 I didn't even know how to wash a car correctly, other than starting at the top, LOL!

I would also like to tell those once again whom plan tol attend to check out the other thread where you add your name to the list as well as what you plan to add to the door prizes if you are able to do so. Also keep in mind to bring small bills to add to the lunch fund as well, makes things much easier, thank you.

Looks like the weather is trying to turn around but will probably take as long as an EVO VIII or IX trying to turn around on a 2 lane road, well w/o using the handbrake anyways, LOL!

Looks like our list is adding up nicely, a couple names aren't there yet but we've got a lot of time still, so far so good guys!

I see we've got a couple noobs to the site from the general area, a couple with nice rides too, one's an Audi S5 too, love those! I expect our group to grow a bit more, really can't wait for this. I've had my raffle tickets, give-aways and Jeff's gift collecting dust for monthes now, we're less than 2 monthes away!

I just received the 1st batch of goodies from Matt and I just wanna say he was more than generous, I wasn't expecting that much, THANK YOU MATT! 303 Aerospace is one of our sponsors for the event, they make a variety of products, so let's thank them buy purchasing their various products, thank you!

Mother's is also one of our sponsors and their items will be given away at our detail day as well. Mother's has a complete line of detailing products for all aspects of detailing and are easily purchased at your local autoparts store or online, give them a look!

We also have various forum members donating products they have extras of or make up, like myself with "FrankenDetailer". Factoring in all the generosity here NOONE will be going home empty handed, nor will you be leaving with less knowledge!

Just did last week....

I've been getting PM's from a variety a people lately about how to get in on this, its easy! Just add yourself to the attendance list so we know how many people are actually showing up, that's it. I like the fact that people are looking to come from out of state too, I appreciate you guys making the trip out, its a little bit of a drive but then again that's what its all about:dblthumb2:

I'm still working on a "grand prize" but don't hold your breath, even still, there's plenty of giveaway items from our sponsors as well as what various forum members are donating. I really like how generous everyone has been, everyone! This isn't going to be the last thank you but here's one for everyone who's done so much for our Chicagoland Detail Day...THANK YOU:props:

Crober53, your coming from 5 hrs away from Indiana, might wanna PM 2old2change (Paul) and maybe you guys could meet up somewhere and drive in together to make things a little better, just a thought. This is impressive dedication for our meet, maybe you should stay the night and enjoy what Chicago has to offer, make it a mini-vacation:props:

We've got 48 more days to go, seems like yesterday when it was 49, LOL!!!

***UPDATE***

I've been in talks with someone for a "grand prize" and I'm pleased to announce he's donating a VERY generous prize, just found out via email a little bit ago. I did send a follow up email to thank him and to find out if he'd like me to announce to the group what is and if he would like me to do so, I will post that info here. I will say this, its a GREAT prize:dblthumb2:

I would like to give this away via our tickets, so what your going to want to do is keep your ticket for the various door prizes and we'll give away the "grand prize" towards the end of the meet, it will be worth waiting for, trust me! I'm really glad so many vendors have stepped up to help us out with our meet, I've never experienced so much generosity before!

Hey just for you Chicago guys. Eastwood is opening a retail store in Alsip. The grand opening is April 25th. They don't carry detailing products, but carry paint, plastidip and tons of tools. They even have a private label of something like plasti dip that is supposed to cover better.
