For the longest time, I've used a GG 6" and and 5.5" pads. For the past couple months, I've switched to the Flex 3401 and. 6.5" pads(4" too). Obviously, the 3401 can correct faster, but I attribute a lot of the time savings to the larger 6.5" pad. It covers so much more surface area, thus, you can work in larger sections. 6.5" pads + Flex 3401 ###!!!!

The Flex is a great machine. Between that and my PC I feel no need to try out the Rupes.

Glad to hear you are having great success with the Flex Mark. When equipped with the larger 6.5 pads combined with the forced rotation you can really correct and cover a lot of area fast.

I have. I do not like using the 5" at all with the Flex 3401. Too small to tackle most of a car. The 6.5" Hybrid's are good, but I like using 6.5" CCS pads better.
 
Mark, have you tried a rotary yet? Why am I thinking you were wanting to try a rotary? Hmmmnn...perhaps I am thinking of someone else.

For even more time savings:
Try CCS 7.5" foam pads on the 3401.

Makes sense because of how much faster you can work.

I wonder if using the larger pads would dictate more frequent brush failure? At least in a production type setting?

My Flex kit came with 3 6.5" CCS pads but I've never tried them. I've only worked with 5.5" pads because that is what I use with my Griot's DA and I have a lot of them.

I'll give them a try in the spring.
