Horsepower War is in full effect

I have no complaints about my 2010 Challenger R/T that is currently driven 75 miles daily. It is what it is - a muscle car cruiser. Some interior space and comfort? Check. Room for a big dog, or two friends for a night out, in the back? Check. Naturally aspirated V8 power for the street? Check. Style? In spades.

In 2015, the Challenger, with an available 6.2L Supercharged Hellcat V8, will go from the LC platform to the smaller LA platform. It will help it lose weight and be a better pony car contender. No matter what, I'll always be jealous of the massive aftermarket support and cheaper parts for the Blue Ovals and Bow Ties though.

As for the horsepower wars? Gotta love the American-nameplate rivalries. Those huge numbers look great in print, and can definitely stimulate every sense...but where and when? Between urban stoplights and crosswalks, the rural twisties with deer crossing signs, or that back stretch just past the suburban school? That stuff is for the track, drag strip or road course, and I fully support your choice. Just keep the streets safe for my family.

I hear where your coming from Frankenberry but I can only speak for myself but the last time I had a muscle car was 2000 (an 87' Grand National) and I was content with the times where I had a little bit of stretch to open up the car, feel the 22 psi of boost bury me into my seat and experience all that has to offer, man I miss that!

Cardaddy, what's your DD again? Also, good stories there too!

It's an 06 G35 6MT, red over wheat leather, with the aero pkg and sport handling package, (with 4 wheel steering as well). It just turned 34,000 miles last week.

You can't buy my option package, with my color package since 07. You can get red with black interior, but not wheat. You can get an automatic with wheat though. Like I said, it's a ton of fun to drive. You can't get the handling package and the 6MT without changing the interior, or not getting the aero package. I don't even know if they still offer 4WS? Nothing but a Stillen CAI and it's in the 310HP range. Sounds fine, runs even better.

Thing is I used to drive about 3500 miles a year when I was having to pick my kid up from school every day. Now it's half that! :) I REALLY should have gone back with the RE050's because I'll freaking NEVER wear out these Michelins, even if they last 25,000 miles that'll be over 10 years! They break loose a LOT easier than the Bridgestone's, a LOT! Just that my wife, when I let her drive the car about TWICE a year to work, really and I mean REALLY likes the Michelin's better.

Cardaddy, I guess you learn something new everyday as I didn't know that 4ws was offered on the G, LOL! I know that car sounds great and on a side note I see your near ATL, have you ever been to the Dragon? I ask because I have a thread going for it here, we've got a group that goes out there every year, the 2nd weekend in October, we'd love to see you out there with us!

Now Jeff, those pics belong in the Car Cave....somewhere, very cool pics! BTW, did you beat the Lambo?

Oh I've been there! :) But it's been YEARS, I mean decades of years. And yes, I've followed your Dragon thread here. Perhaps now that the kids are out of college and high school we'll be able to get out on our own like we did before they came along.

Yeah, they offered the 4WS as an option for a while. It's interesting as it connects the two lower control arms to a servo. Basically the 4 link rear ends up with 3 of them being stationary then the lower one either pulls in or pushes out. It'll only change the geometry a maximum of something like 1½°± while effecting both toe and camber together. It's pretty cool how it works. :props:

Be careful on that road as you know since you have been on it before...

Been down it a few times myself.... Dangerous road for sure....

Yeah it "can be" dangerous as its a public road and has a lot of visitors every weekend, this is why I get down there on Wednesday around dinner time, maybe get a run in and surely Thursday for sure but once you get closer to the weekend, especially Saturday, its a wrap for me, Saturday is just stupid!

I am sure it does, saw a car in the ditch one of the times I was on it.

Been down there when the road was closed due to helicopter rescue as well as a number of bike dumps, sucks to see any of that. From what I've read though, a number of bikers have heart attacks and die from that, I may not be a biker but I wish this wouldn't happen!

It's dangerous even at the posted speed limits so I am not sure why some would want to push it.

And on 2 wheels it would be crazy.....

It's bad enough on 4 wheels.

Well not sure how fast I enter/exit the "U turn" signs that say 10 mph and I'm no "hotdog" for sure and don't have a fast car out there but because the turns are banked and smooth, as long as you use some common sense and know your limitations out there, you can really enjoy this road! A couple years ago I had an 07' MINI Cooper S with a couple mods and even though the speedo was HUGE on this car I never looked at how fast I was going and I asked my buddy how fast was I going and he said you hit 65 mph a couple times but that had to be the very few areas where its "kinda" straight, LOL!
