aftermarket wheels: like it, love it, or hate them?

SickTRed08FSI - The rotiforms are a nice touch. What sedan did you have in mind?

The Viper wheels on the Charger look awesome, doesn't have to be that slammed to look good either, although Chrysler is the king of wheelwell gap!

I like the idea of adding wheels from other OEM cars onto a car, I coined the term "factory aftermarket". Back in the day I put Focus SVT wheels on my Contour SVT and they looked great, the 5 spoke ones, plus they were 17's.

Yea I can't say Ive seen any true aftermarket wheels on a charger that have left me speechless, but I love the viper wheels, and even the 5 spoke chrome clads like what's on the srt-8

Speechless....

Oh yes. This colder weather here in NJ doesn't help one bit. But when it's warmer I'm sure I will get some traction for sure! Plus those look badass in the back if you ask me!

Lol oh yea, people driving behind you are thinking that is a fat tire

i generally hate OEM wheels so i tend to change them out. But i go by how the new wheel will look like with the type of car i have. not every wheel works on any car. older cars need a classic look. having a modern looking wheel on an ols school car just looks bad.

Now for the high end cars like Ferrari Lambos and all he others, when i see those cars with non OEM wheels i just get pissed. The OEM wheels on those cars are amazing. they are made to fit the look and compleet the car. When i see chrome wheels on them i'm like they should take the car away from you. I've always told my friends that those high end car should be sold with something saying you can't modify any part of the car period. Tey built it to perfection so why ruin it??? 99% of the time when someone does something to those cars they make it look so bad.

Well that's what i think about it.

Generally the OEM wheels look pretty good, if it's the better wheel option, but sometimes a car looks better with aftermarket wheels. Case in point: The Ferrari F50. Neat looking car, but the wheels look like pastries. Ridiculous. That car needs aftermarket wheels to look it's best.

A wheel should harmonize with the styling of the car.
I prefer simple, yet elegant wheel designs, because they are easy to clean. Sure a more complex wheel can look great, WHEN CLEAN, but people are kidding themselves if they think a really complex wheel is going to look nice if they don't clean it on a very frequent basis, like once a week minimum, if not twice a week if driven a lot.
Who wants to spend that much time cleaning wheels? Not I.

Some wheels are great looking, but they are incongruent with the overall styling of the car.
One of my favorite wheel designs were the Dymags on the early 90's Callaway Corvettes.

Yeah my buddy went with some ornate knuckle busters (cleaning them will cut your knuckles up w/o gloves) on his Infinity. They are always dirty. I think the only time they've been 100% clean is the day he put them on.

love these aftermarket wheels on this genesis coupe...

The same when I see a mint T-Bird, 1968 SS396 Chevelle, Camaro Z-28, Nova, etc etc, and I don't care if they are a $5K set of Foose wheels, they don't belong.

You've cheapened the ride to appeal to a bunch of teenagers who couldn't even afford the insurance, and lowered the value of such vehicles considerably.
