Sold on Collinite 845

Collinite 845 is the best kept secret in detailing....Outstanding! :props:

I'd apply it to any car, from low to high end cars.
It completely blew me away on how easy it was to use and the shine it gave me.
Gonna be my go to wax now, I'm sold as I said.
I'm a sealant type guy but now since using the Collinite 845 I'm think of using both, sealant then too it with the 845.

Adding the second coat 24 hours later made the paint pop, a deep, rich looking paint I have on that black RAV.
Under it is Wolfgang Glossy Paint Sealant.
Can't wait for rain to see how well it beads and how easy it will be to clean, I don't think anything will stick to it now:)

If you haven't tried it please do , it's cheap and is awesome, nothing to lose, all to gain.

Ordered this 2 days ago! Can't wait for it to get here. Gunna use CG black light then CG black wax then the 845 ontop. Hopefully that combo is legit

I love 845 as well and everything everyone has said about it is true. However, in my quest to try different things and make comparisons, I am wondering if anyone has also tried FK1000 wax? Like 845, FK is not really a full wax as we know it in Carnauba terms but more a sealant paste sort of thing. And like 845, I understand it is also heat tolerant which is what I need here in Texas. Has anyone compared these two?

Welcome to the world of Collinite #845 and anything that makes black easier is a good thing for sure! Seeing that you've got a black car and want something even more.....COLLINITE #915!

I'm becoming an 845 convert as well. I applied it to my new black car in November right before the ice age started. All signs point to it still going strong today.

The ease of use can't be beat and it's really economical. I've done two cars so far and it's bearly to the top of the "C" on the bottle!

I have been thinking of a wax , any wax that can compete with the Collinite 845 on durability regardless of cost. I read up some on how detailers said it was hard to remove, I don't get it, I mean it comes off with one wipe. I let it dry on one panel for 30 minutes just to see if it would be hard to remove, nope, just as easy as waiting 30 seconds. Amazing wax

Regardless of cost? Chemical Guys E-Zyme Natura and Swissvax Concorso.

I have them both and prefer FK1000p. Ive never done a durability test, however I cant get FK1000p to streak, although it can be a chore to remove. With 845 I got streaks. FK1000p is quite durable, lasts 3 months for me, which is the longest Ive seen including BFWD.

Anyone compared Menzerna PowerLock to 845? I've got PL, but I've also got CG Blacklight. I need to sell the Blacklight anyways (anyone interested?! lol; never used)

Great, that is what I needed to know. Now I'll be a few bucks poorer again!

I never underatand why everyone goes nuts for 845. Or why if you go to any detailing site to purchase stuff, get boutique products everywhere else, and then get a $15 wax. Yeah budgets, money, etc, I get it. But still, just confuses me. Not knocking purchases just wondering why theres like some hypnotic haze around 845.

How did you apply it? I've done two dark colored cars using a DA and never had issues. I wonder if the streaking is a function of doing it by hand and/or applying too much product?

My reasoning is price and performance. I don't mind spending extra money for a good product, but in the case of 845 there is no need. By going with a cheaper LSP that looks amazing and lasts forever, I can afford to spend a little more on better polishes to ensure the car is finished right.

I have to maintain three daily drivers and therefore can't justify buying the expensive boutique products that will only last weeks/few months. I don't have the time nor the budget to keep working over those vehicles constantly. To be honest, if I polish out the car correctly, I don't think I'd get any better visual results from 845 than I would some of the other much more expensive products.

I just don't get the whole boutique craze...unless it's beer. Then it's totally accepable, and the obvious choice :D

Before I started using it I also poo poo it. And I would spend good money on who's ever brand, then one day I woke up and gave it a try. It's probably the only detailing product that really wowed me. Factor in its price, the fact it really works well, there is no hype or fancy decals or packaging. It's just a solid product, so I am guilty of drinking the collinite cool-aid and I love it.:buffing:

I prepped my car for the long Western NY winter with 501/601 and 111/601 then topped it with 2 coats of Collinite 476 back in late October. It's been a long miserable winter, even by WNY standards, but I still have strong beading everywhere.

I think there's a nation wide salt shortage because they're layin' it on so heavy here , the salt build-up on cars has been unbelievable. Drive anywhere and occasionally you'll see a car that's been freshly washed, otherwise everything looks white or grey.

Always nice to find products that live up to the hype, Collinite just plain works.

Does anyone know the difference between 476s and 845?

I have 476s but reassigned it to wheels since it is so durable. I do want a go to wax that I can use on customers cars. 845 seems promising especially for the cost.

From Collinite's FAQ:

2.) What’s the difference between the auto waxes; No. 845 Insulator Wax, No. 476s Super Double Coat and the No. 915 Marque D’ Elegance?

All 3 last step waxes serve the same function: to provide a high gloss carnauba shine and lasting protection. All 3 contain copious amounts of wax-both rare Brazilian carnauba and premium synthetic polymers. However, their degree of durability, ease of use, and warmth of shine vary. Think of it this way;

1. No.476s – most durable protection/weather defense. Most elbow grease required during application.

2. No. 915- 2nd most durable and slightly easier than the 476s to apply/remove. No. 915 lends our warmest shine to dark tones like navy and black due to its highest concentration of rare carnauba.

3. No. 845- easiest of the 3 to apply/remove with slightly less durability than the No. 915.

Thanks Bob,

While 476s worked great it was extra work getting on/off then say Menzerna PL and didn't have as much shine as PL. It think for wheels it might be a good choice that I've made to reassign it. I just applied it a few days ago. So I'll report back to see how it tested vs Meguiar's Ultimate Wax on my wheels.

845 seems to be a lot easier to apply, offers good durability and has more gloss than 476s. I'll be ordering some 845 then.

Side Note: I am going to order some Gtechniq to try and top Opti Coat on my paint. Mainly to see if I can squeeze out more shine. I'll report with that as well. :)
