I was just thinking...while were having a bunch of detailers there why don't we do some kind of charity car wash? Like for that local shelter or something? The one next door.
I do a charity car wash each year to help raise money for some local drug and alcohol rehabilitation "sober houses" where people who are stuck in the vicious circle of addiction get a chance at regaining their lives. It's a cause that helps them, their loved ones and everyone around these people.
It can be quite traumatizing to an AutoGeek level detailer to be involved in road side charity car washes. Trust me here.
Do your own charity car wash and you'll experience what I'm talking about. Thanks for the charitable thought, but no thanks.
1. Would we feel right mass-producing washes? I could see myself spending hours on a car and everyone in line getting pissed at me.
And
2. I'm not wearing a bikini!

I would keep this a teaching event for those involved. Nothing wrong with charity work, but another time, another place. There's enough logistics involved with what Dave is doing...all while trying to run a business, take care of Pop's, and maintain one's sanity. :xyxthumbs:
Besides, if there's any extra time it could be spent on other participants auto's.
Guess I shouldn't be speaking for Dave, but I do have at least a little insight as to how full his plate is...whether he's at the shop or not.
No Bill....you're spot on with what you've written above. This past year has been one of the most difficult years of my life, and my Father's...And he's not completely out of the woods yet though he is doing much better now.
I give back to the community in a lot of ways, and I'm often told by those around me that I give too much of myself. I do what I feel is God's will for me to be doing, but I'm not adding another charity car wash to the mix..not now anyway.
I know you got my back...Thank you my friend..:urtheman:
Delilah would not want to go back there. The day we picked her up she went straight to our car without saying goodbye to the people there
As for Dave`s get together I think the KISS method should apply
:iagree:
Sorry for joining in on the thread late. I'm excited for this event and am available, Sunday the 13th. If that is the date I would probably be a little late because of going to early church before coming down. Saturday is booked full so I'll try my best to be there on Sunday.
If there is anything I can bring please let me know. I'm not sure on what polishers you have Dave but I'm more than willing to bring my Flex 3401 for someone else to play around with that day if they were thinking about purchasing one. Again, HUGE thank you for taking charge and setting up this event. It should be a great day and if there's anything you need please let me know! Thanks
I'm just glad you can make it..Come whenever you please.
I have a shortage of high quality wash mits and microfiber towels. I have what I typically use, and don't need anything fancier than that.
So I say this to all who will be attending...bring what you like to use on your cars because what I have may not be anywhere as nice as what you have.
For example...I won't spend more than $3 per microfiber towel and typically spend half of that. I buy decent 70/30 microfiber and they work for my needs. If you require a heavy GSM microfiber or a Yetti's Fist wash Mit and grit guards, bring them along with you.
I think Dave said he had one but bring yours anyway...I know I'd love to try one out!!
I have 2 but by all means...bring it along. I'd really like to see someone bring a Rupes for people to try out. I've tried the 15 and 21 and wasn't convinced that I could do more with it than I can with my Harbor Freight Platinum, 3M backing plates and UltraFiber pads.
Maybe someone can convince me that I'm wrong there.
Hey Dave,
I realize the sooner the better but when do you have to know about attending?
I'm about 2 hours away but know the area well. I do smallmouth bass and flathead catfishng in the Susquehanna.
I remember the first time we pulled into town. Crested the hill and there stood T.M.I.
Never too late bro. If you're willing to make the trip, "COME ON DOWN!!!"
I too do a good bit of fishing around here. We're night fishing 3 to 4 nights a week in prime season. You can see TMI from my house, and I've never caught a channel cat with 3 eyes, or any glowing fish either.
Would love to join this me+1
You want on the list?? Huh?? Huh?? What do you think Drew? Huh? Huh? Want on the list? Im the MAN
I'd love for you to be there that day!!
