Duragloss Enviroshield Ceramic Coating System

no I mean AG will not sell it for a while without something added in.. that is a great price at DG.

Not sure what your trying to say here....but why would AG bundle anything with this product.

I wonder myself.... without a dog in the fight.

However, AG has been known to throw 'kits' together for this and that. Not that they had any control over it, but Rupes (and the Duetto) kit come to mind. Funny that as soon as the "kits" started really showing up so did the Duetto all by itself. (Could have saved a TON buying just the machine.) OTOH, I really like their sanding pads, and of course having a bag to put the machine in is cool and all. But is that bag REALLY worth a hundred bucks? NOT!

But lets see, wax kits, boxes of everything all thrown together from a given product lineup..... aka Pinnacle Black Label, or oh.... buffer kits, yeah that's the ticket, buffer kits. :dunno: Who was that on SNL, Jon Lovitz: "Yeah, that's the ticket!"

Well I for one, as well as everyone else who added their name to the list whom got in on the ground floor of this, think this kit is perfect because its something we've been waiting for, love and trust the brand as well as the generous pricing and shipping of the kit, noone can match any of that, period!

Meanst while.... y'all should all get together at my place and put it on my G for MY BIRTHDAY!

Which happens to make me 70% between Tim & David some 2 days after my appointment with the back surgeon. (At which time I will be begging him to cut me open, lest my right leg no doubt will soon explode! Along with my lower back.)

Good luck with the medical woes, hope everything works out.

Dave

Good luck Cardaddy:xyxthumbs:

I sent DG and email about my order and come to find, via an email from DG that it was delivered last Wednesday. Apparently I got NO slip from the UPS to pick it up from the office, it might have blown away or something but the email confirmed everything, including whom signed for it at the office. I will be picking it up before work. I was surprised at how quickly it shipped and very happy with the quick reply about the whereabouts of my order, first class company across the board!

WOW.... that was fast.

OTOH
DOUBLE WOW..... Sounds like somebody in ur office needs a good beat-nin. Might 'steady' their memory a bit. :D Heeeeee I cracks me self up sum ' times.

Thanks to you as well for the good wishes.

Over the last 15 years I've had more than my share of back pain, some.... enough to bring me to my knees (in pain, in prayer, and because I literally could not stand).

But THIS!!!!!!!!
I'd have bet you that I've seen/felt/experienced the worst there is. Considering I've had back pain starting some 37 years ago.
BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

In this order:
19~ current - Mid back- check
28 ~ current - Neck & upper back - check (neck surgery in 2006 - R Hand numb)
40~ current - Lower back - TRIPLE check check CHECK

Told my wife I'm ready to just chop my darned leg off, but they need to rip it out of the socket while they are at it.

That is a synopsis (imo) of these last 6 months!

Drastic?
Pretty much.
What they say?
"Drastic times call for drastic measures."

Of course nobody would actually do something so insane. Or WOULD they? Hmmmmmm.....

Just being silly. Even that wouldn't be a solution. Doesn't address the back pain but IF it'd help the back pain and it meant no more leg pain (like how it feels on most days when trying to walk on it) I'd sign off on it!

Guess we'll find out huh?!?! :dunno:

When I do my spring clean-up this Sunday I'm going to do a review of the new system, thus starting a new thread for it but if someone else does a correction and then uses this system before hand, by all means, make a new post for it and the rest of us can follow. The only thing would be to let us know in here so we can start one thread with lots of pictures and info and tips and tricks for this product, it will help those out when searching for it.

I sent Bill, the president of DG, an email with a couple questions, so once I get that info I will post it here and will also add it to my review when I write it up, depending on time, it might be Sunday night with pics to follow the next day as it might be dark by the time I'm done, not sure yet about my start time on Sunday.

Curious as to your questions.

I'm sure he's going to get a lot of questions regarding curing time and things of that nature.
Looking forward to your thoughts. I want to pick up some of this but will wait to hear from others.

I know there was once a test review on many sealants and waxes here.

Would be interesting to see a test with all the various coatings. On some junkyard Car Hood.

One that isn't too beat, the hood deconn'ed polished, coating, and left laying facing the sun for at least 7-8 months.

I figure no washes during that time, and although I know washing can diminish anything, I'm sure mother nature would do a great job all on her own to ravage basically anything made by man.

Just pulled a mid 90's Ford Ranger hood out of a barn. Looks like a good candidate for some testing...aside for the 1 inch of dirt and grime on 80% of it. Was thinking about some proper prep...blast from a pressure washer, soak with a good wash, rinse, clay, compound/polish, then seal. Should make a good test subject if the paint isn't too bad underneath all of that mud. Just wished it was a bigger test subject.

I just asked about applying #111 or #105 over the top of it after its cured, also about using the combo of Speedy prep towel and #501 to do some minor cleaning, think of it as maintence. Who knows, this product may truely need nothing more than basic washes. Like a lot of us, rubbing on the car is therapy too and I wanna know if any harm will come to the DGPC by topping it with anything, including their own products.

I just checked my email and per Bill, the President of DG, that its not recommended to apply anything ontop of DGPC. I did send a follow up question about using the Speedy prep towel to remove embedded contaminents from the top layer of the paint. Once I get the answer I will let you guys know.

You see, that is my problem with coatings and I have always said this. From what I understand, most coatings do not mix well with other products, even from the same manufacturer. A good coating is meant to stand alone. The purpose of these things is to do it right once and forget about anything but a weekly wash for the next year or two. I can't handle that because it would not give me the fix I require now and then, not to mention where would I spend my money?

If I put on a coating that is the end for me rubbing on my car for a long, long time. But that is my therapy and without it I would soon go into withdrawal. I suppose I could strip it after a few months and try something else but that defeats the purpose and technology (and cost) of the coating. This is why I have been against coatings all along. I need to rub on my car and I need to experiment often. This is not true for pro detailers who have to put bread on the table and give the customer what they want, but for us hobbyists I still say coatings take all the fun out of it.

I hear what your saying Shortspark, trust me, I kept track of how many times I did any type of "surface enhancement" to my old car and right now I'm at 5 on the new car, 2 of them are Speedy prep wipes and the other 3 are applications of AW, needed to put something on the car before doing the spring clean-up.

Now I'm not going against the President of DG here but once the coating has fully cured what would applying something over the top of it hurt? Is it such that it would simply not stick to anything and be a 100% waste of time and product? Maybe I should've included that in my last email to Bill.

You're right, Klasse, it probably won't hurt at all other than being a waste of product, time and money. I have to assume that anything you put on a coating will not last very long at all and "slip" right off so to speak, after the first couple rains or wash. I mean, what does it have to bond to? At least wax, for example, although not as durable as if applied directly to paint, can sit atop a sealant for a few weeks anyway and look good but I doubt it will last even that long on a coating. In any event, putting something over a coating defeats one of the benefits of a coating and the reason it was invented in the first place.

Another thing, I can't believe the looks of a coating is that much better than a good sealant or wax. In fact, I bet the new Duragloss coating will look almost identical to 111 or 105. Speaking of betting, how much you want to bet it is a boosted version of one of these? And who knows, maybe they found a way to incorporate the bonding agent into one of their sealants, boosted it by ratios, and called it a coating? The 111 is suppose to provide protection for six months and the 105 even longer, especially if combined with the bonding agent. That is plenty long enough for me, since I redo every three or four months or so. Longevity is not much of an issue, at least for me.

Now, if there is an appreciable boost in appearance, gloss and shine - you know, something that knocks our socks off, then maybe we have something to talk about. Will this coating be that much better in shine and over all looks than 105, 111 or any number of excellent sealants and waxes currently on the market? Well, that remains to be seen and I know you will report on that and other factors such of ease of use and methods of application. I really want this product to work for me but I have to have justification of some sort that it fits my overall purpose.

....111 or 105.

Doesn't Duragloss #s 105 and 111 contain:
"polishing agents"?

If so:
Would they not, then, act to abrade (remove) at least some of the Duragloss' new Coating...
if an application of either of them, to this Duragloss Coating, was attempted/performed?

Bob

Bob, I think 105 has some, but very little polishing agents. The 111 is suppose to be pure sealant. The real problem about your legitimate concern is that the bonding agent (601) that both of these are generally used with does have a stronger polishing agent that is capable of removing old wax.
