My girlfriend just bought a used Jeep Liberty Sport Blackberry Pearl color.

Of course the day she looked at it, it was all shiny. I know they use a cheap yellow filler wax to make it look like this. One car wash later the wax is gone and now the entire jeep has swirls. I am sure this from going through a brush car wash and also a bristle brush being used to wipe snow off.

We used Wolfgang Uber Compound 3 with an LC Orange Smart Pad Orange Light Cutting CCS Smart Pads™ DA 5.5 inch Foam Pad

I have a PC 7424XP which was set on lvl 5 initially then tried a few passes on lvl 6.
running it back and forth and side to side over each area.

We got about 90% of the swirls out but some scratches and defects still remain, they are not past the clear coat but they don't seem to want to come out...

After using the Uber compound we used an LC tangerine pad with Blackfire SRC Polish then we used an LC Red pad to apply Blackfire Midnight Sun Wax with the buffer on a speed of about 2.

The before and after photos are attached... What other pads, compounds etc. could we use or I am just being too fussy ?

From your pics, the paint looks pretty flawless. I would have went to a white pad for finish polishing after compounding.

Pics arent the greatest for seeing defects but weigh the pros and cons.

This is a fairly new car and if youre picky now you'll be picky later. Going all-in now to get the last few defects left may not be worth griding away more clear on a daily driven vehicle.

Anyway, can you show us some better pics with a light source directly on the defects youre talking about?

In my opinion, you achieved great success with your approach, I don't think you will get any better than this without 'wasting' too much clear...

I'm not able to see your entire outcome by the pics, but they look good and based on your info of 90%, that is a high standard in my opinion.

I mean, you can compound it again to get the last few 5% (100% is ~impossible), but I tend to believe this is not worth on such new car.

Keep car protected, wash it properly, and in a period of an year or so you can detail it again.

If you re-compound the car again now, in a period of an year or so you will have to work over it again, but you may have wasted your precious clear coat earlier because of 1-5% more improvement you would try to remove now.

If I were you, I would save clear for further removal of defects later in a future detail.

Maybe someone can chime in with a different opinion, and I may agree with it, I mean, this is not my 'definitive opinion', just what I'm feeling right now.

I have no problem with your pad choice since tangerine hydro-tech may be as effective as a white polishing pad.

If you can show a picture of what defects are left so I can give more precise answer, like spot sanding and buffing, etc...

Looking forward to hear from you,

Kind Regards.

Your paint looks flawless, and very presentable to be a daily driver therefore I would leave it as is, seal it up with a sealant or wax, maybe both that way later down the road you have enough skin(clear coat) to work with

Im not sure how to get the defects to show up in the pic since we used the blackfire its so shiny its hard to get the exact angle to show the scratches...

We only did the hood to see how it would come out so when the whole vehicle is done we would know what to expect.

The after pics look darn good to me, although maybe it looks not quite as good in a higher resolution, i.e. up close and in person. But I wouldn't try for perfection on a daily driver.

I think that is the only step we missed was using the blackfire paint sealant before the blackfire wax... I was going off of what I was told on the phone when I ordered the products from Autogeek last week.

So for the rest of the vehicle I should probably use the same steps except add the Blackfire paint Sealant so that it goes like this assuming its already been washed.
  1. Clay if necessary
  2. Wolfgang Uber Compound
  3. Blackfire SRC Polish
  4. ADD BLACKFIRE WET DIAMOND ALL FINISH PAINT PROTECTION
  5. Blackfire Midnight Sun Carnuba wax

What pad and speed should I use for the Blackfire Paint Sealant ?
I also have Blackfire SRC Compound but I think using that is a waste since I am using the Wolfgang Uber Compound.
