Mothers vs meguiars

I do tend to choose Meguiar's (if between those two brands), but Mothers never let me down when I used any of their products (not many, it's true), they have great quality just as any other professional line of product.

I use both. Both offer something different. I tend to lean more in favor of meguiar's as I have used them for a very long time. Although mothers pro compound and polish are great. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either brand.

For consumer products, I have liked the Mothers products..

Mothers clay kit gave you more for your money. The clay itself was about the same for a mild clay.

Mothers Chrome Polish

Mothers Reflections Car Wax over NXT

Mothers Scratch Remover over ScratchX (not latest version)

Mothers Plastic Polish over PlastX - finished better on delicate plastics

Mothers Reflections Tire Care - Meg's Hot Shine was too glossy for me

Meguairs Detailer Line stuff has nice products - HyperWash, Glass Cleaner concentrate (very inexpensive) plus their M105/M205 polishes.

Hard to beat Mother's legendary metal polishes,
with their World-famous abrasive technology!!

As someone who started with Mothers, I have now switched entirely to Meguiars. Not that they're inferior but Meguiars offers a more comprehensive line of products. If you're anything like me and like to depend on one manufacturer for all of your needs, Meguiars can cover anything from towels and quick detailer to a DA polisher, pads, and backing plates. They offer marine products, hobbyist, and professional lines.

Meg all the way.

Love them both but if I were to use only one brand for everything it would go to Megs. Mothers has never disappointed me with any of their products...OTC or Pro.

I like Mother's Pure Brazilian Paste Wax and also Mother's FX Engineered Spray Wax.

I seem to get streaks with Meguiar's spray waxes, but maybe it's operator error as others seem to like the Meg's spray waxes.

I actually been mixing ultimate compound and M105, with say a 16oz squeeze bottle - i'll put 4oz of M105 and 12oz of UC, works great for me.

I'll mix 105/UC as well, but nowhere near that mixture. At most it'd be half and half (on old dry, long disregarded paint), and on others it'd be more like 3:1 the opposite way. ;)

Just tried Mothers Back to black trim cleaner and it seems to be very good.

:iagree:Does everything it claims and more.

You got it Bob! Their metal polishes I do have. And everyone should have the Mothers Power-XXX products for their drills! :dblthumb2:

Seems I've got one of their leather cleaner/conditioners out there, uhhh.... "Reflections" perhaps? Works on clean leather. But I've had better cleaners.
