A friend of mine's brother contacted me and wanted me to take a look at his Challanger. He's been having it "detailed" at the dealership 3 times a year at $200 a pop. He said it usually looks like crap a week or two after the "detail" is completed and wanted to have it done properly. I explained to him that the glaze that the dealership was probably using was merely masking the defects that they were more than likely causing during the "details". So, He dropped it off so that I could wash, iron-x, and clay it so as to get a true reading of the condition of the paint. Looked OK when he dropped it off but not so much after a decon! Swirls, scratches, you name it! I recommended a 2 step correction, jeweling, and CQUK since he and his wife enjoy going to car shows in the car and the fact that he wanted as close to show car paint as possible. He said, "go for it!" So off we go. Here are a few pics of the car on dropoff day.





Client was hoping to have the car back for Sunday afternoon as there was a car show he wanted to show his car off at so I really didn't have much time to spare and didn't get to take too many before pics. Here's a couple that show the defects that basically covered the entire car.



16 hours later and coated with CQUK, here she is! Customer could not believe his eyes and said the gloss and reflections were amazing and that he couldn't wait to show his friends. He left with 20 or so of my business cards! Lol!

Thanks! Owner is a retired electrical engineer and is very much into gadgets and doodads. Led lights everywhere, electronic hideaway front license plate, strobes, 4 cameras that show on the Nav unit, etc. Its like Dukes of Hazard meets James Bond! Lol!
 
Thats a nice Chally, excellent work! I can't wait till I have the chance to apply CQ UK on my mustang...

My truck is wearing Netshield at the moment but I'll see if I can dig up a few pics of a black F-150 I did last summer.
The Challenger received one coat of CQUK and I did apply reload after 4 hours of cure time.
 
Great outcome, now it looks properly detailed! I like the customer enthusiasm - Go for it!, you really went for that.

One thing I like about coatings (the main LSP I apply) is that I don't fill the paint with fillers that customers may complain some weeks later.

It must be applied to 'naked' paint, and that means no surprise, what you see is what you get and exactly what you paid for.


I only use fillers if in accordance with customer (in example, if necessary on paint that cannot undergo any correction, fast turnarounds for later correction, etc).

I have nothing against fillers, in contrary, they have their place in detail (huge, indeed).

What I dislike is people using products to mask defects while promising to customer complete defect removal.

I'm pretty sure your customer will be happy a long time with what you've done,

Thanks guys! This one was a bit of a "challenge"! The paint was rock hard. Took me a good half hour, 6 compounds, and 6 pads just to find a good cut! Ended up with my flex, MF pads, and Sonax 5/4 and 3/6 polishes. Needed something with a long working time and Sonax came through for me!
 
What did you do with the black matte lines? I had a Ford FX4 with them and I ended up taping them off.

excellent work and nice photography. If you could have got the exact shots where the swirls previously were, that would have been great. I know it's difficult or impossible sometimes with lighting situations and time crunches. I've been there.

Really like the old school look of that beast.

Thank you, sir! I love when a customer takes advice and gives me free rein! I'm never completely satisfied with the outcome of a "budget job"! Lol!
Your absolutely right about the fact that I should have taken more before pictures showing the defects! Wish I had! I'll have to keep this in mind on future corrections.

Nice job. I just did my black lexus last week. looks amazing. I just gave her her first bath since coating.I could not believe how the water just blew right off when i blew dried it.
I always blow off the water before drying with towel and never seen water come off this easy.
It is my first time using something like this, I would be really amazed if it lasts half the time they say it does.
