Typically I'll use M105 then follow it up with M205 but unfortunately I'm out. I want to use up my older products before buying anything else. Can I use Poorboys SSR1 or Zaino AIO instead of M205?

I'm pretty sure you can.

Doing a fast search here, I'm convinced SSR1 will do the job, however I was not very convinced by Zaino product since I don't know it better.

In my thoughts, it can be too mild depending on severity of defects you may inflict compounding with M105.

If you achieve almost perfect finish with M105, then Zaino AIO will do the job.

You can always try to work it on different pads (a polishing pad or a finishing pad) to see how far you can go with it.

To re-stock your finishing polish, I'd recommend taking a look at Menzerna SF4000. If you'd like, when you place an order at AG, get a sample of Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish.

It's almost (if not) the same product, I believe it's tweaked for AG specifications, but they work the same and will give you a great idea of how SF4000 would work out.

Hope that helps a bit, although I never used neither Zaino or SSR1 your talking about.

Kind Regards.

I like the Menzerna Products. For final polish I go with SF 4500 for polishing. Menzerna is great stuff

I find Menzerna PF2500 comparable to M205.

Are you sure?

Wow, this comment almost made me fall off my chair...

Look what I've found!

(maybe the worst picture I've ever made, but I've took a picture with my computer cam in a hurry just because I can't believe this...)

The picture on your left I took from AG PF2500 product page, the label states PF2500 is a high performance Polish, and the 'aggressiveness scale' on bellow part of bottle points it at ~the middle.

My PF2500 (at your right) says it's a High Performance COMPOUND, and if you look at the scale, it's pretty much on the Coarser side.

It works here as a compound, it's much more aggressive than M205.

However, maybe I was missing something. I wish my PF2500 was a polish (instead a compound), I've talked about it today how I like FG400 finish much more than PF2500... That may be because mine is a harsh compound while yours is a high performance polish.

Mine is from Germany, not Menzerna USA...

Thanks for pointing that out.

Kind Regards.

+1 Finish is excellent and wipe off is a breeze, but don't use too much -- only requires 4-5 pea sized drops to prime (don't rub it into the pad) and 2-3 small drops after the initial section.

I have used plenty of Zaino AIO. Trying to use up what I have left is taking quite a bit of time. I don't feel it has much cutting ability at all. More of a chemical cleaner. Supposedly it has a little abrasive, but I doubt it's much. I add a little ZPC to the pad when looking for a little more cut.

I use 105 and 205 when I am looking to due some serious polishing.

However, I think I will be trying some Wolfgang polishes next time around.

Yup, it finishes down very well. I consider it a finishing compound. For some paints you're better off finishing it off with 4500, but that's true of M205 as well.

Oh man, I need to try this PF2500 polish instead of my PF2500 compound, or just find a substitute for it...

I'd start a thread looking for an alternative to PF2500!

Kind Regards.

HD POLISH is the best finishing polish I've ever used. Good cut for a finishing polish, not oily and pretty easy to remove. Finishes great!

On a side note, in one test, Blackfire SRC COMPOUND finished better than PF2500 POLISH. Again, this was only one test.

Dear Mark,

Do you have a suggestion for 'intermediate' polish, since I use (and like) FG400 for compound and SF4000 for finishing polish.

Like said earlier, my PF2500 which I thought was a moderate polish is in fact a compound... HD have a moderate polish option?

Thanks in advance.

Notreally. HD ADAPT is a light compound that's very good.

Not really. HD ADAPT is a light compound that's very good.

I use PB PP or ssr1 after 105. I have not gotten any bad results yet.

I was able to get very good results from SRC Compound on black VW paint. I could have easily skipped using the SRC Finishing Polish
