What's your favorite light polish?

Having used both, I will say that I have never had any issues removing D302. It wipes of very easily in my experiences.

I will actually have a review of D302 published on the AAP Blog next Wednesday.
 
I've only used Meguiars Ultimate Polish and Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish. Between those two I prefer the Blackfire, but like the Menzerna products it's pricey.

I have a really old bottle of IHG from the '90s sitting on a shelf in my garage. I haven't used it since I applied it by hand and paired it up with One Grand Blitz wax. Based on your continious endorsement I may have to break it out again and see how it performs with a DA when I do the Winter prep detail on my vehicles.
 
I have to throw in another vote for Menzerna but will admit that the number of folks tossing in HD has me interested to try. Although with my accumulation of finish products i have in my inventory i may wait until AG stocks HD!

I have always loved the finish characteristics of Menzerna and i jewel it down to near, if not total, perfection. I have also brought both my and the wife's car to simply maintaining almost perfection and love the finish of Menzerna. I can work it forever and it removes so nice. I have dabbled with Meg's 205 and it has a much faster work time and i agree that it, too, is very easy to both work and remove.

I like hearing the different recommendations though and it helps to continue my more progressive thinking and approach. There is always something that comes along that is tried and tested by the frequent and more experienced users here and when i hear a resounding consensus my wallet burps!

And desertnate...i, too, have 2 bottles of both 3M IHG and P21S GEPC and tried them both after sitting on my shelf for years. Shook the living hell outta them and went to town (of course on the wife's guinea pig) and was again very impressed with both...moreso the P21.

I think any of the recommendations here would look good as a finish, fine polish on the right paint, machine, pad, technique, weather, lunar phase, cellestial alignment...whatever.
 
Menzerna sf4000 or 4500 with black pad, the end result is shinier than meg 205, I hade done comparisons meg and menz since 80, 83, 85. I like menz better.
 
I've found in my limited use that D302, when used with a MF finishing pad marred the paint pretty bad. Could be user error. This was on medium-soft black paint.

HD Polish is not oily, SMAT, fairly easy to wipe off! My favorite finishing polish thus far. With HD Polish, with the right pad, you can remove deeper marring and it still finishes great! Reflect is good too, but can't remove deeper marring, IME.
 
I like Menzerna 4000 & Reflect. I just wish Reflect had a little longer working time.

My limited experience with D302 was on a blue subaru... finished out excellent on that paint with a Rupes MF Finishing Pad.

I will say, however, that I typically don't prefer to finish with MF pads and will almost always use foam pads for the final step.
 
For a light polish, I like Optimum Polish II using a traditional DA. For an ultra fine polish, I like Optimum Finish Polish (same machine).

For the Rupes, I'll always go with their polishes and pads.
 
I have never tried another light polish. M205 worked out great for me. No need to try other products.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree... there have been many instances where M205 does not produce the best results compared to other finishing polishes. If you're just working on your own cars it is probably just fine, but if you're working on various paint types, you're greatly limiting yourself with the mindset of "no need to try other products".
 
M205 is probably the last finishing polish I'll reach for.

I have to agree with Bobby, Menzerna SF-4000 works every time, no haze and it it saves me time by getting it right the first time(especially appreciate that when it's humid outside). I like M205 but on occassion it will leave a haze, the SF-4000 is my "closer" in those situations. It actually performs better than a light polish, with some patience it really makes scratches/swirls disappear.

Ok I read it more thoroughly and sorry Bob I took it as one of your usual responses. I may have to try it out sometime. Sounds like it would be a great product to use before just using a wax. Do you have any experience applying it before a sealant?? Sounds like it may affect bonding with a sealant or coating (I know your not a coating guy). And are you applying it by hand or with a DA??
