Hello everyone, I have this dent/crease on the edge of my fender. Here's where it gets interesting, this fender has had bodywork done to it before, and the paint isn't cracked or anything, so I think I can push the dent back out without cracking paint if I use heat. Once it's out, I plan to compound or maybe even wetsand the haze from it being repainted by the body shop.

How should I attack this? I was planning on using a hair dryer/ heat gun (never used one before) and jacking up the car and removing the wheel and fender liner and trying to push out the dent.

If that doesn't work, I was going to try to tap it from the inside with a rubber mallet, or try that method where you heat it up and then turn upside down and spray compressed air onto it, the freezing liquid is supposed to pop it out. Or....I could try to use suction and a toilet plunger.

Thanks in advance!

Those PDR guys make it look easy but....
My door had a run in with a shopping cart gone wild and I tried to push out the dent by hand but to no avail.

call a few exotic car dealers in your general area and see who they use for PDR. usually...those guys can be trusted. if they can't get it out, nobody can.

Call a professional PDR guy. Right now that is about a $75 dent. If you try to push it out you can very easily lock it up and make it un repairable. PDR is something that takes time and practice to do correctly. You need training and specialized tools. Looking at the crowns on that crease I can tell you it will not "pop" out. Those crowns need to be tapped down and a sharp tool will be needed to pin point the valley of that crease. I repeat, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUSH IT WITH YOUR HAND OR SOMETHING YOU HAVE LAYING AROUND.

I may be slow, but I do poor work.

I agree with the above posts. The crease is definitely too sharp to just pop out. Use someone with experience on this one.

+1 on above advise

FYI...PDR is short for Paintless Dent Repair

Most likely you'll have to go to a body shop that has a guy on call for this type work
unless someone advertizes in local papers .

Last month I went to shop down the block from me..
They quoted me $100 for 3 dings in one door..
I knew there was another one in the other door, but it wasn't that noticeable.
I left car there and the guy fixed 5 dings altogether for $150..

You wont be disappointed...these guys are amazing!!
