So this happens to me from time to time. Ill be doing a detail and ill stop for a quick smoke break then i notice my hand shaking. Ill also feel weak and fatigue. Does this happen to any one else? Im drinking tons of water so hydration isnt an issue. Im thinking about drinking a pre work out drink before detailing from now on. Something high in carbs and containing BCAA. Does any one else do this?

Not trying to be a jerk but maybe it has to do with the smoking? As you know its not good for your health and could be the cause of ur problem

Whenever I get tired to something similar to what your describing, it is usually because I haven't eaten. Food = Gas for your body.

Yeah i know smoking isnt good for me... It was the most stupid thing i have ever done and being a 27 year old male that says a lot lol. But it doesnt only happen when i smoke some times if i grab some dressing or anything for that matter ill notice my hand shaking.

Thats the weird thing i typically will eat something before i start the detail. Maybe i need a bigger meal or im quickly burning of the calories.

I'm not saying the CIG u just puffed caused it... I'm saying smoking caused it in general. I'm 42 and by no means the oldest here and this doesn't happen to me. Could be other things but u should seriously consider the effects that smoking does have on your body.

Yeah we all burn a crazy amount of calories when detailing. You could even try Gatorade. I find it a bit more hydrating

Try of all things a Banana. That has lots of potassium and you may be lacking that. Or take a multi-vitamin early in the morning as well as some calcium.

I am from Southern California....land of the Fruits and nuts and granola bars. We are into health. Smoking is the 1st thing to stop, however, that is a hard habit to kick. You might want to try easing the smoking habit with a Vape cigarette. Either way try the banana.

I only get like that after a hard workout and usually some fruit, chocolate milk and some time in the shade bring me right back.

This works for me as well if I get a "sugar low" type of feeling. Sometimes I'll munch on a granola of fruit bar for a quick pick me up. That with a bottle of water and a 10 minute break usually does the trick to get me through a long detail.

I'm 50 and detail in the high Floirda summer temps and humidity in customers garages with just a fan, sweat my ball$ off and this doesn't happen to me. I would suggest seeing a doctor and getting a stress test along with a physical.

Being shaky is symptom of a greater problem with your body. I would see a doctor and maybe get some blood work done. I'm also a huge advocate of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.

A pre-workout is not your answer, if you need more energy to detail, quit smoking, clean up your diet, and get in shape. I don't mean to be harsh but if you are poisoning yourself regularly, your body is not going to function correctly.

Something here I must bring up, and its something everybody forgets. YOu say " I am drinking water all day" Let me ask,, how much water have you drank the day before? It makes a big difference! Living in N TX its a battle , much like FL. I have to force my son to drink a lot of water the day and night b4 he suits up for football. I have also tried to practice what I preach. If you dont drink water till the day of, its like filling a dry well. Your blood cant carry it fast enough to help you at taht time (though I forget that beer water doesn't really help at all LOLOLOL)
but as others have said, if this happens a lot,, you need to see your doctor or the health clinic.

Its more complex than that. Water gets absorbed from the distal part of the intestine and enters the blood stream. The blood flows through a tubule system in the kidney where water, salts and other molecules are taken out or left alone (in a simple explanation). If you need more fluid in your blood, (based on blood pressure & other factors) the water is returned to the blood in the kidney & you do not make much urine. The reverse is true if you are hydrated to optimal level--more water is removed and you pee more dilute urine in higher quantity. This process is ongoing at all times. So despite the fact you just drank that fluid, you still might not need to pee.

Smoking is the first thing. But you already know that.

I get shakes in my hands often, not just when working on my car. Could be meds i take, could be nerves. Stress also plays a huge factor and it sounds like you're going thru a fairly stressful situation. Id also suggest you see your GP just to be safe.

Oh and gatorade, probably the best thing you can drink when dehydration might be an issue.

In the grand scheme of things, detailing isn't that much of a physical activity IMO. At least not to me (I'm young, you're older than me, but not by a ton! :xyxthumbs:). You shouldn't need a pre-workout to detail a car for a day. As others said, I bet it's something to do with low blood sugar. After hours and hours of detailing, I've noticed my hand can get shakey like that, but it's most likely low blood sugar. I'll stop eat a snack real quick, or make a food run, and feel 10x better, then get back to it! I say most likely low blood sugar because I can't say 100% its low blood sugar since I haven't tested my blood sugar/glucose to confirm. But eating fixes it :)

OP - you are doing the right thing by noticing it though, and you deserve props on trying to figure it out, since that is your body telling you something.

I'll add:
A good night's sleep is mandatory for a healthful-next-day's-activities. It also helps a person to be more able to cope with stress.

However:
I don't see how you expect to be able to get that R.E.M. sleep...when you're now spending way too much time traveling back & forth to visit with your "CHiPs friends"! :D
