Autogeek is heading to Kentucky and we need YOUR help!

Mike, on the way back you guys need to run that van down the Dragon! Yeah its big but you'll get lots of attention out there from the photographers like www.killboy.com I know this, you pull into Deal's Gap with that thing and you'll sell a bunch of stuff out of the truck. Back to the photos, everyone can see them on Killboy's site too, $5.00 a pic and they're put on a disc, HIGH QUALITY to boot!

***Update***

Just a quick update...

Thank you to everyone that has e-mailed me as of today volunteering to be a part of our team.

If you've e-mailed me, rest assured I've seen and read your e-mail.

If you're reading this and you're interested but have not e-mailed me yet then there's still about 3 weeks before show and we're not going to pick the members until the date gets closer.

Im trying to make sure my work schedule is clear before emailing you. Hopefully will know for sure in the next few days, thanks.
To those just visiting or going to the show. In years past they would play old and newer car movies at their old town theater on both days. Pretty cool watching days of thunder in a vintage style theater.

where in E-town is it going to be? I live up the road in Louisville, would like to see the show

(ah, I see downtown e-town)....

Yea yesterday at a local cruise in and at the local 4th of July parade. Lots of nice cars that looked like crap paint wise. Makes me cringe

This is one of them

I'm just north in Louisville, but unfortunately too busy that time to help.

I'll stop by just for a free oil change (I got my car in Elizabethtown and I'm in bowling green). I'll be with a swirl free finish so that way you can tell me apart :dblthumb2:

Here's your picture with some of the fluff cropped out and a black Chevelle certainly would look better without the swirls and scratches in the paint.

I cringe too every time I go to any car show. So many cool cars and the majority of them might be cool but they look horrible and it comes down to two things.

1. The owner doesn't know how to polish paint. Most of these guys only know how to use a spray detailer or a California Duster.

2. The owner doesn't trust anyone else to detail their car.

So while the car may have looked pretty good at one time or another, the more time that goes by the worse the paint looks because the only thing that ever happens to it is it gets wiped or dusted.

The first time I worked with Dennis Gage was when we shot a segment for his show on how to remove swirls using a 1965 GTO Convertible. This one...

Later during a break while talking to Dennis even he remarked how he sees the same thing, that is so many of the cars he sees at all the cars shows he goes to the paint is always swirled-out. And he goes to a lot of car shows.

Removing swirls is actually pretty easy, all you need is,

1. A product that uses good abrasive technology.
2. The right pads, the right tools and the right technique.
3. A little head knowledge.
The head knowledge part is easy enough to gain now days especially on a forum like AGO.

The hardest hurdle to jump over when it comes to working on the type of hotrods, customs, classics and antiques you find at most cars shows is,

A. Earning the owner's trust.

B. Getting paid fairly for your expertise.

The car show crowd is a tough nut to crack.

:)

Sweet, I go to this show every year. I'll be sending you an email here soon Mike.

Im trying to make sure my work schedule is clear before emailing you. Hopefully will know for sure in the next few days, thanks.

Where you at on your schedule? I want to put the team together this week.

:)

I'm in cincy and would love to check this out

Good talking to you on Facebook...

While I was originally intending on drawing team members from the AGO forum the last couple of months I've really come to appreciate how many AG customers and friends we have on Facebook.

I've also come to learn that while I lean towards the discussion forum interface others prefer the Facebook interface and both are important.

So you're our FB Team Member.

Okay here's the team...

Decided to choose 8 people in case schedules change and one or two guys have to cancel.

If everyone shows up that's okay too because,

A: Most streetrods, classics and antiques are on the large size so there will be plenty of work to do.

B: We'll be using the Buddy System. This means we'll all work in teams of two for specific quadrants of the car. So even with 8 guys plus myself and Nick that will realistically mean 4-5 guys working on the car at one time.

We're going to tackle this project with precision as well as passion just like we tackle all the car projects here at Autogeek.

Mike, I would love to be a part of this and am within driving distance to Elizabeth town.

Will you guys be working on a car all weekend? I am 5 hours away in Ohio but I could be there for all day Saturday. If that works I'll shoot an email with my pictures.

Your To Do List

Okay I need each one of you guys to e-mail me with your shirt size and your cell-phone number, this way I'll have both your cell number and your e-mail address.

[email protected]

We're driving up on Thursday and we'll be walking the line on Friday talking to car owners and selecting a car for the extreme makeover.

I'll figure out a time and location for a pre-game meeting and let everyone know.

This will be another first in the industry and I'm looking forward to meeting and working with each one of you.

Back-up Team

It's a drive and I am not any kind of professional, yet, but if I can swing the free weekend I'd be glad to be a gopher just to soak up what I could.

If the gopher position is already filled, I'll stop by and visit.

Love to have any of our forum members stopping by and checking in. Not sure we'll need any one to run errands but you never know?

Hope you can make it to the show. I love meeting our forum members and putting a face to an Avatar!

I'd LOVE to join!!!

Like I said, if you get your airline ticket and fly up all the way from Brazil you'll be our VIP Team Member!

Darn this is way too short of notice. I would have loved to have done this.

Doing an extreme makeover on a show car at a car show for TV coordinated through a discussion forum is to my knowledge a first in the online detailing world and we would have loved to had the world famous Superior Shine as a part of the team.

We don't know where this project will take us, maybe no where, maybe there will be a second, third or forth project down the road. If there is I will always try to share the good news as soon as possible and as always, welcome and encourage our forum members to be part of the project.
