1967 Camaro

Not familiar with the Camaros of those years, the closest I had was my 76 Firebird but much was changed in those 9 years I guess.

From what I've read the Camaros as well as Mustangs were notorious for having wheel hop AKA Bumpsteer. In 67 Shelby modified the front suspension of Shelby Mustangs by dropping the upper control Arms 1" or so to adjust camber/caster. Was it a similar thing on the 68 Camy?
 
Mono leaf rear springs were available on all first Gen. Camaros and were regularly used by drag racers.They mostly came on low horse powered cars. You Guys are getting close on the rear end section.The front suspension short of the springs (big block VRS. small block) are all the same.I know i`ve hijacked the thread and I`m sorry but this is good fun. I`ve built and parted out so many Camaros I could`nt help myself.
 
Heck how many things are there in the rear? Axels, or a subframe support?
I'm pretty sure they didn't have IRS back then.
 
They offered two different ring gear sizes ...8.75 (12 bolt) 8.20 (10 bolt)
The difference was that 67 had staggered shocks.One mounted in the front of the rear and the other behind the rear.GM realized this was a bad design and never went back to it again.They were so desperate to compete with the Mustang they rushed the car.The big block cars had a traction bar on the passenger side in an attempt to counteract the wheel hop.
 
The famous 12 Bolt was 1st offered in 68 with bbc right ! & Z28 Optioned ones also .

67 on the Camaro.All as an option.Ended in 72 on passenger cars yet continued in trucks but was a different configuration.

1st and 3rd gen Camaros' are my favorite, but the new ZL1 and 1LE are catching up :dblthumb2:

I had a '69 RS with stagggered shocks :xyxthumbs:
