I've been eagerly waiting to have an opportunity to review this wax. For some reason though I've been swamped with coatings or daily drivers in for paint sealants. I think it is time for Drew to develop either of those options since I could have review a dozen of his products over the last few months.
I was one of the first to jump on the Son1c Wax Carnaubavore (got #7), and was one of the lucky ones to try the PW93 which is the last version before the retail release of Son1c Wax Phoenix, which I reviewed (click here), so as soon as I heard word that it was going to be available in its retail form I contacted Drew to see if I could get #7, which is was more than happy to set aside for me. As the commercial picture below, the wax comes in a 150ml (a little over 5oz) plastic container and does have 2 of the best foam applicator I have used so far.
So let's break it down:
Now on to the pictorial!! The subject at hand was a 2003 "50th Anniversary" Corvette Z06. She was a little abuse so before applying the LSP we had some work to do (I may post a Show and Shine later on).
The Results:
And the Gold Pot at the end of the rainbow!

So let's break it down:
- Smell: There is no denying that any wax Drew makes is going to smell ridiculously good, regardless if it is a Protowax or a full fledged retail product. I could not put a finger on what this wax smelled like until someone mention Cherry Starburst. There is no better description!! In any case, you won't find a better smelling wax on the market unless you are buying Carnaubavore
- Texture: This wax unlike the previous "all natural" Carnaubavore is much softer and velvety.
- Application: Simple enough, use the foam applicator and prime it. Be warned a little goes a LONG way. I actually loaded the applicator and folded it on itself and rubbed it together to make sure it was properly loaded and that I did not have any glob. I did apply out of the sun however this wax is toted to be sun friendly.
- Hazing: This time, I applied in the middle of a HOT day, with relative humidity at 70%. With PW93 it took a while because it was getting cooler (in the evening) and I was dealing with 100% humidity. This time, it hazed in about 5 minutes.
- Removal: Unlike Carnaubavore which contained an insane amount of Carnauba wax/oil, it was a breeze to remove. I used a deep pile high quality MF (not sold by AG) and removed without streaking, or oily residue left to detract from the gloss/reflection.
- Look: I would say that it is very similar in warmth and gloss when comparing it to Carnaubavore, but I would give the "wet look" award to Carnaubavore, even though Phoenix has a high concentration of Carnauba wax in it.
- Impression: Compared to the other waxes I've tested and reported on, I would give Phoenix the win in looks and a close second in ease of application and removal. It is a GREAT high end wax, but I would select Carnaubavore for my show car (wetter look)
- Rating: I would give this wax a solid 8.5/10 and is definitely on my short list of preferred wax (very short list). Why I did not give a 10/10?? Because Carnaubavore does have a little better depth and gloss and because I have one more wax that is slightly easier to remove.
