Bootcamp . . what have i done?

Merry Christmas Aaryn (even if it is the 'day after' for you, it is 'the Day' for us...LOL)

I had 30 also, but it was 30°F (-1C)! Which for us IS warm.

Time is flying by quickly now Aaryn...will you be having some free time before or after "Boot Camp" to just cruz around and see some sights?

Curious...how long is the flight?

Bill

Bill

Hey Bill, Merry Christmas to you to my friend. :dblthumb2:

Yeah . . . I think I'll stick to our 30 degrees thanks Bill.

Our flight from Blenheim to Auckland NZ is about an hour - then we get on a slightly bigger bird from Auckland to LA which is around the 12 hour mark . . . swap there for another & I think it was just on 4 hours 40 mins from LA to Fort Lauderdale. A road trip from Fort Lauderdale to Stuart that is about an hour 20 mins (which almost screwed up the whole thing)

We leave Blenheim on the 22nd at 1:35pm & arrive in Fort Lauderdale around 9pm (local time) on the 22nd. 7 & a bit hours to travel 8000 miles - fast planes. hahahaha. :props:

So Friday the 23rd we get to relax a bit & figure out how we get to AG headquarters - maybe even see it!!! :dblthumb2:

Then I get to attend BOOT CAMP!!!! WOW!!!! :buffing:

Monday we head up to Orlando. My lovely lady Ange & young fella Jonty (11) are along for the trip & we are going to spend a bit of time at Disney World & around & about Orlando for 4 days.

We wont be driving over there (you guys drive on the wrong side of the road & your cars have the steering wheels on the left also. What the???) So sight seeing will be fairly limited but I think the shear SIZE of the place is going to be an eye opener for us, even though we know its going to be BIG . . . I'm thinking we have know idea how BIG it really will be.

We then fly out of Orlando on the 30th & get back to Blenheim on the 1st (Sunday for us) & straight back to work on the Monday.

Thats if the guys at AG let met leave . . . they possibly may need me to stay & help with Detail Fest, Cars & Coffee, Thursday Night Projects etc etc etc . . . hahaha . . sweeping the floor . . mowing the lawns . . . maybe . . ?

27 sleeps now Bill! Man that came around fast. Words simply don't describe how excited I am!!! :buffing:

Thank you for all the encouragement Bill, enjoy your Christmas (I had that beer for you while tending to the BBQ last night) & have a great rest of 2014 yeah.

Aaryn. :xyxthumbs:

How many days do you have left?

G'day mate. Merry Christmas! :dblthumb2:

Only 27 more sleeps until we leave New Zealand for BOOT CAMP now!!! Yeeehaaa!!! :dblthumb2:

Aaryn.

Go Steven Adams & the OKC Thunder!!! :dblthumb2:

Awesome Christmas day game! Ka pai my Kiwi Brother!!! :props:

Hello all. :xyxthumbs:

If anyone reading this can give an idea on how far away the Marriot is from AG & whats the easiest way to get there (taxis, walk, etc) is would be great. We wont be driving is the point.

Aaryn NZ. :dblthumb2:
Hi Aaryn. AG is about 5 minutes from the Marriott. The Marriott has a van and will provide local schuttle service. Considering pretty much the entire class will be staying at the Marriott odds are really good you will run into some of your classmates at the hotel who will be driving to class and happy to hitch you a ride.

Stuart is is one gorgeous area running the gamut of history through technology. ASk Marriott about tours and day trips from the hotel.

You will meet Meghan, Nick, Yancy, Bob McKee (Max) and many other of the staff at AG. Most importantly you will learn from Mike Phillips.

You are going to have a great time and gain a new confidence in your detailing knowledge and ability.

I attended the first boot camp, a class on damp sanding and many lecture type classes by Mike at Mobile Tech Expo.

Awesome. :dblthumb2:

Thanks for the info, was a little concerned but did figure there would be someone staying at the Marriot that could help me out.

Really looking forward to getting to Stuart, a little sad that we don't have the time to make it a real holiday & have a good look around etc - will just have to work double hard in 2015/16 & try make it back some time. :props:

Boot Camp is going to be a priceless experience i'm sure.

Thank you again.

Aaryn NZ. :xyxthumbs:

Hahaha - & everyone keeps telling me it will be US who have the accents . . ? :props:

Nearly 2015 down this end of the planet . . . 3 & a half hours & it will be. That must mean in 22 sleeps - we'll be on our way to Boot Camp!!! :dblthumb2:

Nerves are taking over now . . . excited, sure but man those butterflies are working overtime!!!

Ya'll have a safe rest of 2014 & we'll be seeing some of you in 2015!!!

Happy New Year from New Zealand. :dblthumb2:

Aaryn NZ.

Dear Aaryn,

Just reading your last input I felt a 'cold inside' (a good one) like anxiety and happiness when something good is getting closer, we can't wait anymore.

Can't imagine how you're feeling!

I'm waiting for my opportunity to meet AG personally and your 'adventure' is becoming very inspiring for me.

Enjoy!

Let us know,

Kind Regards from Brazil;

and a Happy New Year!

Yes, only 24 more days. I can't wait. I am looking forward to meeting Aaryn and the rest of the folks that will be there.

Happy New Year to you also my friend. :dblthumb2:

Thank you so much for the encouragement & support you have shown for my Boot Camp adventure. Really is great to have people that understand just how awesome this opportunity actually is - & I must say, people such as yourself who understand the amount of hard work it takes in this industry to be able to afford to get there. :xyxthumbs:

Certainly very very excited, nervous & to be honest - getting a little scared now. Only 18 sleeps to go!!! Yup!! 18!!! Wow!!!

17 days of work, shut the shop up, say goodbye to our animals etc & then around 23 hours of travel ahead of us to get to Stuart for Boot Camp. :dblthumb2:

I will be sure to do my absolute best to keep everyone up to date with where we are at & how things are going. Rest assured I will post my honest thoughts of my experience the best I can when we make it home.

I hope you do make it to Boot Camp in the future mate. I have no doubts what so ever that it will be worth the effort.

Looking forward to meeting you also Mike. :xyxthumbs:

Not very long now mate. Do you fly to Florida Mike or make it a road trip?

Apart from you Mike, I haven't seen anyone else say they are coming to Boot Camp with us - can't wait to be around some like minded detailers.

18 sleeps & counting . . . :props:

Aaryn NZ.

Just added another car for this class...

Detail Class Training Cars for January 2015

It's a 1933 Nash Streetrod....

:dblthumb2:

Hey there Mike. :xyxthumbs:

Happy New Year mate.

That is another odd one for us down in NZ . . . we sometimes see a Metropolitan down here but certainly not a common sight. Sure looks like a nice rod though . . . blows my mind to think that I'm actually going to see these cars in person! :props:

18 sleeps to go . . . YeeHaa!!!! :dblthumb2:

Three days back at work already, pretty busy start to 2015. Here’s a couple of pictures of how my week/year has kicked off – Monday -

Tuesday consisted of a 2011 VW Passat. Almost a full detail but didn’t snap any pics as left camera on the bench at home (doh!) & a 2004 Toyota Estima for a maintenance detail.

Wednesday started off with the removal of a half wrapped Mitsubishi Lancers wrap & another Pellenc Harvester for a pre delivery detail.

“BIG” jobs to start the year & pass the time until we head to Florida. :buffing:

15 sleeps! Unbelievable its almost time!!!

Aaryn NZ. :dblthumb2:

Geeze, that kinda farm equipment looks like all the stuff I see around here.

What's that puppy "pick?" Grapes?

Two weeks! But who's counting...LOL.

Bill

Those are HUGE jobs and they look so perfectly detailed.

Very nice work!

:dblthumb2:

Thanks Mike. :xyxthumbs:

Yep - these harvesters are rather big. Lots of climbing ladders, scaffolding & a little bit of gymnastic stuff around the tops.

New ones aren't too bad compared to the used ones I get through. Most are severely oxidised & that grape juice is seriously sticky stuff. Paint is butter soft & a joy to polish - though not the normal detail for most, I'd probably average 15-20 of these a year. If it has paint, it gets polished aye Mike! :props:

G'day Bill. :xyxthumbs:

Sure does Bill. These things do a couple of weeks work a year pickin' grapes - then the trucks take most of them to the 100s of winery's in Marlborough - the rest just spills out all over the roads in town & about. Slippery stuff those grapes.

At $490k ($NZ) its alot of coin sitting around for 10 months a year.

Hahaha - Me Bill me!!!! I'm counting my friend. Two weeks!!! Geepers! Boot Camp here we come! :dblthumb2:

I think I started counting at twenty two weeks!

Aaryn. :props:

I am flying in. I am an enthusiast interested in learning machine polishing. 2 weeks from tomorrow.

Two weeks now Mike! :xyxthumbs:

Boot Camp sure is the place to learn machine polishing. Do you have a polisher/polishers already Mike or are you going to try them out at Boot Camp & see which one suits you best etc? Fantastic opportunity to try all the different machines & products & make an educated decision when the time comes to purchase.

Are you staying at the Marriot Mike or somewhere else?

Looking forward to meeting you mate.

See ya in 13/14 days - ha - does that mean i'll see you before you see me? :props:

Aaryn NZ. :dblthumb2:

I am staying at the Marriot. I do not own a polisher. I am waiting to try the different brands at Boot Camp.

No, I think you will get there a day before me. Or maybe we pass each other because of the time difference.
