I'm looking at replacing my iPhone 5. I want a bigger screen than 4.7 and don't want one as big as 5.5 either. I have narrowed down my search to the HTC one M8 and the Galaxy S5. I am leaning towards the HTC phone, but I want one with the finger swipe as well. I'm thinking I might even wait for the new M9 version.
I'd like to get some feedback from people who are using the M8 right now and see what they think of it. Thanks.

I have the "harmon kardon edition" of the M8 from Sprint and love it, after upgrading from an original EVO after almost 5 years :wow:

It does everything I need it to and then some, is fast, takes great photos / video, sounds great (for such tiny speakers) and I have no regrets.

Good luck with your decision!:xyxthumbs::xyxthumbs::dblthumb2:

I love HTC phones, but I have yet to upgrade my Rezound to the M8 because picture quality is important to me and from what I've seen, ultrapixels just aren't the same as megapixels.

Yes, all the reviews agree on that. Even though it does very well in low light, the shots don't look good when enlarged. Another reason to wait for the M9. Not to mention it'll probably run the new L google software too which is also getting great reviews.

You might want to hold off buddy. Rumor says the iPhone is getting a bigger screen.

To be quite honest, give the LG G3 a very hard look. Its really not a whole lot bigger feeling in the pocket then the M8 is. And IMHO, a FAR superior phone.

The buttons on the back, once a person gets used to them, make it very hard to go back to "traditional" placed buttons. I much prefer them on the back now.

Have it. Love it. It does everything you ask fast and well. By far the best phone i've ever had.

Chris, yes, 4.7" (not big enough) and 5.5" (too big). I'm looking for Goldilocks size, LOL.

Rodney, I held that in my hand and just feel it's too big. I hope the M9 doesn't get any or much bigger than 5".

Thanks Rez. If it had what I wanted now, I'd get it now. I'm willing to wait for the new version to get what I want.

I looked up the M8 and the only thing that kept me from getting it is that the screen was too big for me. I wound up getting the HTC One Remix - which is the same size screen as the iPhone 5s. The HTC replaced my Droid3 and I am happy with the new phone.

I have the HTC M8 and im really enjoying it. I also switched from my iPhone 5s...The speakers are great and the screen is nice.

I'm waiting for September 9 and see what the I6 turns out to be. I have the 5 right now and I want a bigger screen so they better do something because I'm also interested in the new note coming out on the 4th.

The galaxy alpha comes out sept 12th; the all metal body should be great.

Coming from a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (will never own another Samsung). The radio has all kinds of issues--which they knew about and didn't care to fix. The mic would randomly cut out and people couldn't hear me or I couldn't hear them, random call drops, and sometimes the phone would randomly start making an incredibly loud screeching sound in the middle of a call. My mother has a GalaxyS3 with the same issues.

I got the (M8) in late march and it's the best phone I've ever owned; the battery life is amazing. I can get 3 days if I don't stream a bunch of vids/music. When they patch it with the Power Save mode on VZW, it will be even better. I've heard some pretty amazing things about the G3 as well, but it's bigger than the M8 and I don't think I could use a phone that large.

There will be 2: a 4.7" and a 5.5". The new note is 5.5" too I believe. To me, 4.7 isn't big enough. 5-5.2" range is perfect.

Yes, it's a 4.7" just like the new I6. I want a 5" or very slightly larger.

Thanks for the feedback on the M8. The reviews that touch on call quality give the edge to the M8 over the S5 as well.

LG G3 will give you a large screen in a more regular sized frame because the bezels are very very thin. Also has a huge battery without making the phone thicker. Plus the back buttons are great.

i have an s4 and love it to death. I got used to having the bigger phone. i understand the s5 is a tad bigger too. I have swipe typing on my s4 but never use it. Personally will always be a galaxy guy now until something of equal comes out. But i am very gentle with my phones so they last me my mandatory 2 years

How weird, I had the exact same experience. Galaxy Nexus massive letdown to HTC M8 love.

Samsung has lost me as a phone customer forever.

The LG G3 looks nice, but sounds like that screen may be a bit ahead of its time, as you sacrifice some outdoor readability, battery life and performance.

Still I would pick that over a Samsung phone any day.

So sad too, I'm not the only one. I love the M8's build quality as well, awesome phone. It also takes better video/pics than my wife's iPhone 5c

5" is the PERFECT size screen! Heard the M8 is great, but doesn't take the best pics?

LG G3 is too big(5.5" screen).

I would og with the m9 for reasons already stated. HTC makes a good phone. Can't go wrong with the s5 either, but I would go m9 first.
