Sorry about the lack of information Allen. Here is everything you need to know about Gloss-Coat - this is the same information that will be live on Autogeek.net in about an hour. If you have any technical questions, you can always pick up the phone and call us. 1-800-869-3011 :dblthumb2:

Optimum Gloss-Coat is a high-tech polymer system that forms an extra layer of clear coat over painted surfaces, wheels, plastic trim, bumpers, aluminum, and chrome. Formulated by award-winning Dr. David Ghodoussi, Optimum Gloss-Coat is designed to provide unsurpassed resistance to etching caused by harsh detergents, and swirl marks that are often inflicted during the wash process. Surfaces that are coated with Optimum Gloss-Coat will be protected for up to two years.

Optimum Gloss-Coat is much like the clear coat that already exists on your vehicle, except it forms a shell of protection that is glossier, slicker, and less prone to wash-induced swirl marks and marring. Optimum Gloss-Coat creates a self cleaning finish that is considerably easier to clean and maintain compared to conventional waxes and sealants. Carnauba-wax lovers rejoice – Optimum formulated Gloss-Coat so you can top it with your favorite non-abrasive finishing wax.

Optimum Gloss-Coat can be applied to all exterior surfaces. It is not recommended for glass since improper application can affect visibility. For other exterior surfaces, Optimum Gloss-Coat is a highly effective, transparent protective coating.

Optimum Gloss-Coat is an additional barrier between the elements and your vehicle's paint. The paint will retain its color and contaminants will be blocked out to keep the paint smooth and clean. Unlike waxes and paint sealants that require frequent reapplication, Optimum Gloss-Coat provides constant, unyielding protection for up to two years!

Because Optimum Gloss-Coat is semi-permanent, the paint finish has to be properly prepared before applying it. Any blemishes or contamination on the paint will be locked in so remove them first! On a properly prepared paint finish, Optimum Gloss-Coat will look clear, smooth, and clean.

Once Optimum Gloss-Coat cures, washing is the only maintenance needed to keep your vehicle looking fantastic. The coating can be clayed but it should not be necessary since Gloss-Coat releases contaminants easily. Use detail sprays as desired to intensify the gloss. You can top the coating with your favorite non-abrasive wax or sealant if you desire.

What? We could buy opti-coat 2.0 20ml for 79.99 and now gloss-coat 2 year protection 10ml = 59.99 ... Will never buy this cause that's encouraging a company to downgrade his product because he think it's "to good to be accessible for the public"... So will be looking for other coatings as this one is too costly... 10ml... almost enough for a big truck is your lucky with opti-coat aleast you have enough in syringue and it's permanent... You can do 2 cars with opti-coat for 79.99 and with gloss-coat 1 car for 59.99... I don't wanna even try it.. It's not a new products it's downgrade to make opti-coat inacessible now for everyone....

Sounded interesting until I saw 10mlk for that pricing. Enviroshield is fine for me.

Way too expensive, thanks but no thanks.

DG coating kit which includes squeaky clean. You can do many cars with it. Nothing could be easier to apply and its slick as glass and looks great too.

Does anyone know what the process is at the end of the two-year life? Can you just recoat on top of Gloss-Coat? Do you have to polish it off completely? Do you have to polish it a little to give it some tooth for the new coat?

For that matter what about recoat? If it lasts for 2 years, can you recoat after one?

im sure it will be gone after 2 years and the paint will most likely need polished to remove minor imperfections

my guess is it'll be just like when a sealant wears away over time.

correct as needed and re-coat (if i had to guess).

So then us 'Geeks will be touching it up twice a year and won't that be expensive ;)

I wonder if this works even better than OC 2.0 at dirt release/self-cleaning since it is slicker?

Could be a distinct possibility, IMO.

It would also seem to me that being slicker could translate into being somewhat more hydrophobic---which would equal "more water beading", instead of the "more water sheeting" that OC 2.0's being not as slick (not as hydrophobic) often demonstrated?

I don't know, all this is giving me a headache. It's like when I find a brand of underwear I like, and then they go and change everything, and you have to start all over again.

My guess is that it's probably leaps/bounds above 2.0 at dirt release.

2.0 will stop beading if the car is parked outside and not washed for several weeks. You end up having to clay and/or iron-x the car to bring the beading back.

I have seen no such issues with any of the glass/gloss type coatings (i.e. CQuartz UK or C.A.R. BulletProof), so I am guessing that Gloss-Coat is going to be similar in this area.

This product is going to be a tough sell until the furor dies down. We have what is essentially the same (or possibly inferior) product at a significant price increase.

Personally I think it was a bad move but at the end of the day it's their (OPT) business and their product. For my own use I had already jumped off the opticoat boat. Bang for the buck the Duragloss enviro-shield kit is working very well for me.
