Sonax net shield or 476?

Thanks everyone for the input! I think I'm gonna give the Sonax a shot this winter. The temperate is cold already. Around 50-60 degrees, maybe a bit warmer in my garage. So it is easier to apply in colder temps?

Brian

I think it has a lot to do with temperature. I use EXO and C1 which a lot of people say are one of the hardest and I have no problems. I only tried the PNS on one hood because I got it in the autism speaks raffle. It was about 92 degrees and that stuff was a pita trying to do a 1x1 foot square.

So I have an almost brand new can I don't have much use for.

Have alot of humidity there too?

The hottest I've applied it (in the shade) was about 85, low to mild humidity at the time here in MI.

Maybe work out a trade with the OP?

If he's interested. Yes humid here as well. What part of Michigan are you from. I'm from the Kalamazoo area originally

Wonder if the humidity played a big factor.

I'm on the eastside, north of Detroit close to M-59 and I-94.

I had sonax pns on my car for about a month. Loved it but went to the dp coating. And thinking about 22ple or cquartz uk soon. Pns had great hydrophobic characteristics and the car just never seemed to look dirty. It's a great product.

I'm actually from Michigan as well. Born and raised in Troy!

DaveT: I wish I knew this before I placed my order, but thanks for the offer.

Good choice I will be applying my PNS tomorrow for the winter.

If you use SPNS pick up some brilliant shine detailer to go along with it. It's an incredible product and so easy to use.
Do you happen to own a trans am ws6 as well? Post up some pics!

I only have experience with #915 and it is amazing. I know 476 lasts longer according to Collinite so I would stick with what you know and trust.
That said, I would love to see some beading from PNS as I am a beadoholic :)

So PNS requires small sections at a time? 2x2?
And u can apply it with a MF Towel?
Apply, wait for a mintue or 2 and buff off?

1. Yep, it's best to do small sections. The application is tricky and takes some effort to get good with.

2. I highly suggest a foam applicator--the blue/red foam hex pads (not found on AG) or the Pinnacle/WG Polishing Pal are the best. These are good back ups too: German wax applicators, P21s 100% Carnauba Wax Applicators, foam wax pads or Wolfgang German Polish N’ Wax Applicator has two sides of premium foam in one awesome applicator!. You will need an applicator that makes full/flat contact with the paint surface as you apply. Cleanmycorolla has had success with a MF applicator block as well.

3. Buff off immediately, don't wait or you will have to reapply to "reactivate" and then buff off. It behaves a lot like a coating, but it's a little more forgiving--I applied outdoors at dusk and had no issues.

Yes, I do own a 2001 trans am ws6. Supercharged and full of extra goodies. I have a bunch of pics on an external hard drive, but I can't find it...it's funny you ask cause I have been looking for it the last couple of days! If I find it, I will for sure post up some pics.

Hey everyone. One last question before I place my order. I'm thinking of also purchasing the Sonax brilliant detailer spray as well. Can I top the net shield with the Sonax detailer spray right after I apply the net shield application for extra protection? Or should I wait till the next wash? Thanks.

that 476 is hard to get off, gotta keep it thin but man does it last, all winter for me!

On the BSD I think I would wait till the next wash if you even feel you need it.

Let the PNS cure/breathe a bit before you top it--dontcha wanna see it's beading behavior firsthand? :)

Yes sir! I'm excited to see the beading vs the collinite 476...we shall see.

Polymer Net Shield is a pretty amazing product. its a lot different most likely than anything most have used.

I watched a video from Sonax (I will look for it and post it) showing what is chemically going on when you apply their Hybrid NPT products and it looks pretty similar to those little graphics posted by the coating manufacturers (Cquartz, Gtech). It fills in the nano pores of the paint and levels itself with an inorganic coat, and an organic coat lays down and self levels later on during the curing process. giving you a solid coat. Is all that stuff provable ? I dont know, but I do know that PNS beads water like crazy and has VERY long durability with a coating like self cleaning effect. On a white car its VERY obvious ! You could probably skip a week of carwashing and rinsing with just a regular garden hose pretty much knocks off everything but the toughest road grime thats stuck.

The best part is that it has the mineral affinity that coatings DO NOT. So you wont be prone to water spotting.

edit : graphics start at about 4:25 of the video

I have both and use both. PNS is so easy to use and you can coat everything with it. Once I am done with my 476s I probably will stick with PNS and BSD.

Do a test on the roof or a panel, half 476 and half PNS see which last longer and stays cleaner.
