Non-Pro Coating Comparison Discussion: Which is the best coating available to NON-professionals?

Mark, how much did you use (and on what size car)? Will 10 ml really stretch to two cars?

Sure will. The car is a 2014 Jetta. I used a little less than 5cc and put it on thick. Super easy to apply once you get the hang of it. I've been installing Pro for a few years so GC is gravy compared to that.

Just applied my first gloss coat application today. Impressive. Going to be the top dog consumer product once word spreads.

Ha...the anti Gloss-Coat tide seems to be turning.

Oh, I wasn't "anti"; I'm trying my first coating tonight. I'm a bit trepidatious though, as all the online videos made EXO look easy to apply so I went ahead and ordered enough for five cars... then read more than a few posts here saying it's a bear.

Im not sure that people were as frustrated with gloss coat than the fact that 2.0 was discontinued and you got half as much gloss coat for a similiar price. A little communication during that whole mess that gloss coat goes a really long way compared to 2.0 would have helped a ton.

2 coats of Bulletproof on this civic, it is real slick to the touch. real simple to apply and remove

Well, there still is no communication--I'm guessing SEMA?

It was really 3 waves of frustration, right?

1. New pricing/minimum policy for OC Pro

2. No more OC 2.0

3. Gloss-Coat--you only get half as much and it's not permanent!

Anyway, it's good to hear something positive about GC.

Gloss Coat is real nice to play with and use!

Permanent coating on the other hand is a whole other discussion...

What kind/color of cars did you do? I've got EXO lined up for wife's dark green Accord, but testing on mom's Sanddrift Corolla tomorrow. Also pre-sold a coating to a yellow Kia Sportage but will decide which one after testing the EXO a couple of times.

I've put EXO on my Red Jewel Tint Camaro, my avatar. Also on a white Genesis Coupe. I did the C1 EXO compo on a Pearl White MDX.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. How did it go?

Thanks for asking! EXO EXceeded every EXpectation! I wrote a mini review in the What did you do today detailing-related thread.

I'm glad I ordered the 50 ml size, as I may have overused the product. I think I used about 15-20 ml on the smallish Corolla, so I at least have plenty more for my wife's Accord sedan. I'm pretty sure I can use 10 ml or less the second time around, leaving enough for a third car.

Did you put two coats on?

Yep, followed the directions. Did fairly large sections (half hood, quarter roof, whole door or fender, etc.), levelled each one quickly with the included waffle-weave then went over again with a purple Super Plush. By the time I finished the car I started again, about 25 minutes between coats.

It must have been fairly cool out. For future reference on warm or hot days just work in smaller areas. I read your review. Glad everything went smoothly. Did you see they have 30ml bottle of C1 and 100ml C2V3 combo on BOGO? I've used the C2v3 as a stand alone sealant. Worked great. You can mix it 20:1 and use as a drying aid on cars coated wit EXO. I used the 20:1 tonight. Amped up the gloss.

It was around 65° in my garage, yeah. That's what I figured. Lack of air movement (breezes) probably helped, too.

Yeah, I saw the BOGO deal and even commented on it in Meghan's thread right before you did!

Polish Angel Viking Coat or Cosmic.

Amazing looks, and decent chemical resistance. Applying and removal are just incredibly easy and the look is like pouring an additional layer of clear coat over the car.

I just used CQuartz UK and it was the first time that I have used a coating. I thought it was very easy to use and the gloss is great. The 30ml bottle allowed two coats on my SUV.

I'll be trying Cquartz Classic on a CUV in about a week. Right now I have Cquartz, C1 and EXO available. Which do you think might look best on Kia Electronic Yellow? EXO looks great on the lighter colors I've done, but I can imagine it looks downright drippy on darks, especially over C1. Should I use the Cquartz?
