Initial Impression: Menzerna SC300 vs. FG400

Nice write up Mike. I was hoping for a comparison like this concerning rotary vs DA and different pads. Good info all around. SC300 looks like a great product for hitting up paint fresh out the body shop.

Thank you Mike! I will look into the LC hybrid wool pads. Since I purchased all the hybrid foam pads in 5", I'll stick with 5" for the hybrid wool pads too.

The Hybrid wool pad utilizes the factory 5.5 Flex plate. The wool pad is actually 6"

Really nice detailed review Mike.

AG when will you get it?

Thank you sir!

Fantastic write up MIKE! Very detailed and great work too:) thanks for taking the time to do this my friend.

Thanks Kyle! Hope you enjoyed it.

Awesome job Mike!

Thank you Fausto!

Thank you!

I wanted to make sure I captured every area where this could be used. I hope I delivered.

More real world testing to come.

Awesome review!! Thank you for all the information!

Peace!!!

Thank you CJ!

Thanks for putting the review together Mike :dblthumb2:

I cannot wait to get my hands on some of this.

Nice write up man!

Very well thought out and executed. I will be stealing some of this learning curve for any reviews that i will write in the future. I especially like the near scientific approach used for the comparisons. Great job!

Just have a few questions:
1. Do you think it is worthwhile to use the 400 after the 300 or would you just move straight to the 4000 or 4500?

2. Do you think that menzerna will release a polish suited to work with the 300 like a 3500 or something?

Great write up Mike!

Thanks Will!

I spent a good bit putting it all together. I hope you enjoyed it and possibly learned a thing or two. :props:

1. At this point when needing to accomplish some serious compounding, I would choose either or. But once I start off with either my next step polishing process would be to refine it with SF4000 on white. If I am after the utmost gloss and reflection, I would include a third step with SF4500 on black.

2. I have no idea what they would release next. My hopes are to see PF2500 get a makeover in that it provides a bit more cut but finishes out even better. Honestly, SF4000 on white should have enough pull behind it to clear up whatever SC300 couldn't finish up in almost any scenario. I know SF4000 on white with a 3401 can pull out what the PE14, wool, and FG400 leaves behind.

3. What I would really like to see is an ultra high end finishing polish such as LS5000 (last step 5000) that only has a cut level rated at 1 (SF4500 is rated at 2) but will finish out to an 11 or 12 where SF4500 stops at 10. This is only wishful thinking of course.

Impressive! Thanks for info. Yet another compound to add to the inventory.

Great, well thought out review. I think you covered every possible combination. Thanks for taking the time to do it.

Looking good Mike! :props:

Say there.... would that happen to be Air Force blue?

Have you tried the Menz Sealing Wax? It has (what they claim is) a cut level of 1½. It does however leave a REALLY slick finish! My daughter's new KIA Sportage had a problem with a coating failure (due to them not keeping it up more than anything) and we buffed it all out with the Sealing Wax and it really made it pop.

Take care Mike! :dblthumb2:

You won't be disappointed!

Here's my question - what can this do, that M101 cannot?

I have never used M101 so I can not comment on your question.

Maybe..... lol

I have not tried Menzerna sealing wax. But I do have the new PP Ultra to try out and review. Mike was saying this new wax has a very long play time with excellent shine and gloss.

Too bad your daughter didn't keep up the finish with the coating.

:)

Outstanding review. The dedication of AGO members to share their knowledge and experiences just blows me away. I could spend all day just reviewing posts and learning. (Wish I had that much extra time)

Thanks again Mike.

Thanks Mike,

What a great demonstration. That took a lot of effort. I haven't ordered any Menzerna yet but I'm going to soon. I have to get the PE14 to replace my old, chunk of lead, rotary. Been wanting one for awhile.

Don't you think I should get the PE14 before getting the new PE8. I hope Flex will put a soft trigger on it.

Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

What does the bottle of SC300 say? Is it made in Germany or USA? There are few products that are produce under license Menzerna USA. I think PowerLock and Car Lock are examples of these.

I think product like LS 5000 won't make any sense. Polish with low cut of 1 would be pretty much a Glaze. Hopefully they somehow work on improving finish level of SF 4000/4500.

You won't be disappointed with any of it. The PE14 included.

Honestly you can't go wrong with the PE14. I know you have quite a few years experience with rotary's and you mention needing to replace the iron weight you have now.

I can tell you that I was in the same bought as you and wanted to get into the rotary action myself after using and old Dewalt 849. At that time Dewalt launched the new 849x and I was able to get a decent deal on it and decided to go for it. Months later I met with Mike Phillips at SEMA and he got me behind the booth with him to play with the PE14. Since that day forward I relinquished the thought of even picking up the 849x for correction work. The PE14 is that good.

Also with the layout of a full size buffer just in a compact body, the PE14 has all the great feature you expect from a rotary. Variable speed trigger, trigger lock, convenient speed dial, all in a well balanced machine with the ability to mount a shaft extension or two for precision polishing.

Now my 849x is regulated to spinning pads dry along with other odds and ends. It will never touch paint again.

Pick up a PE14 ASAP!

Greatness.

Thank you!

The bottle of Menzerna SC300 says made in Germany.

Imagine a pure polish that is designed for one thing only. Jeweling paint to an impeccable standard with a higher quality finish than what SF4500 could provide. Just my thoughts.
