Not that I'm defending/endorsing the acquisition of US companies by foreign ones, but that's not really fair to Fiat, is it? What is the life-cycle of a vehicle design today? And I could argue the "Chrysler-designed" vehicles that are being supplanted are actually "Daimler-designed", but regardless, at some point existing vehicles are going to be redesigned, so in the spirit of globalization, as all car co's today exercise it, it would be only logical for new Chryslers to be Americanized Fiats. And come on, some of us are nostalgic for 124's, 131's, and X1/9's.
...it also misses the fact that it allows FIAT to eliminate US- (Chrysler-) designed vehicles and introduce Americanized versions of their own cars.
