I've been struggling with coming up with a name for my future detailing business. It will be both mobile and fixed.

It was originally "Niko's Automotive Detailing". I read Mike's post about having your name in the title of your business is a good thing. So, I figured that would work.

However, some people mentioned about the thought: what if I wanted to sell it 20 years down the road or make it into a franchise?...The name wouldn't work.

Then came the brainstorming for company names without my name in the title. Basically everything I thought of was already taken by multiple companies.

However, I thought of one that was only taken by a few companies that weren't very big. That is "Impeccable Finish."

Goods news is, www.ImpeccableFinish.com is available to be purchased.

But I really want my name to be involved due to reading Mike's article and thought "Molina Auto Detailing" could work. It's not possessive (its not Molina's, it's Molina) so it could be sellable. Its just a last name, right? Also, www.MolinaAutoDetailing.com is available.

DING DIN DING!!

Impeccable Finish
-www.ImpeccableFinish.com
-Sellable Name
-Some potential clients will go to a business with a name like that (i.e. doesn't have the owner's name in it)

vs

Molina Auto Detailing
-www.MolinaAutoDetailing.com
-possible sellable name
-Some potential clients prefer a business with a name like this because of the "connection" they feel with the owner by knowing his name just from the title

I have attached two logos to my post. One is for Impeccable Finish and one for Molina Auto Detailing. They were made in MS paint and are the basic drafts.

####.

I may be stuck with "Niko's Auto Detailing"

I can't change my Facebook url. It's www.facebook.com/NikosAutoDetailing and that's what it's going to stay at.

It won't allow me to change it to www.Facebook.com/MolinaAutoDetailing or anything.

I might be forced to use 'Niko's Auto Detailing" then...
I see absolute nothing wrong in using your birth-name in your Business' name.

Kentucky (Fried Chicken), and McDonald's...
just to mention a couple of Business names...
are sold/franchised pretty much World-wide.

I would go with ImpeccableFinish for all the reasons you listed. I think using your own name can only be a downside and you get more flexibility in the future.

Yum Brands, the owners of KFC, had long removed Sanders (now just referred to the Colonel) and reducing to KFC to offer more marketing flexibility.

I would suggest to stop worrying about the little stuff.

I'm all for an exit strategy (selling your business), but there's a lot more to it then your name (which is no big deal).

You need a business model that allows sort of like MRR (monthly recurring revenue), your business needs to be completely sufficient without your input, you have to a positive cash flow, etc...

Make a plan to hit your first $100,000 within 18 months, then go for $500,000 in 3 years etc...

You have to hire a team, set people in place, have systems in place, and you'll have to automate a lot of your processes

The name is least important

It's a business and regardless of the name if it's valuable someone will buy it at a fair price.

I have my radiators rebuilt by Johns Radiator..... The owner operator of the shop is named Mark....

Just start a new Facebook page if you want.

I think you can merge the 2 accounts together

If you're worried about losing all your likes, don't worry about it.

Out of the 170 likes, maybe 80 are shown your status.

And from those 80, maybe 20 people actually notice your status.

And from those 20, maybe 2 people will like your postings.

Facebook announced that at anytime, your postings will only be shown to 16% of your audience.

But that's only if your EdgeRank is well.

EdgeRank is Facebook's algorithm to determine what shows to your audience

I was just wanting the 'Likes' because it gives my FB page relevance, you know? Don't want to lose all of that.

But merging? Elaborate? I'm all for starting the "Molina Auto Detailing" Facebook with WITH the url was www.Facebook.com/MolinaAutoDetailing and then merging it with the current one.

Or Impeccable Finish...whichever one I go with.

I just went to attempt to merge them.

FB only lets me keep the one with more likes which is the 'Niko's Automotive Detailing". Damn lol

Relevance to what?

I wouldn't worry about the likes.

Facebook is now a pay-to-play platform.

If you want more people to see your posts, you have to pay for promotions.

If you're not paying for ads/promotions, it's going to be difficult to achieve any real success with Facebook.

Nevermind.

Thought there was an option but I guess not: https://www.facebook.com/help/203498356357867

Those are accounts Bamboo.

Pages are able to be merged.

www.facebook.com/pages/merge

It even says:

To merge your Pages:

Go to facebook.com/pages/merge

Select the Page you want to keep from the first dropdown menu, then select the Page you want to merge from the second drop down menu

If your Pages can be merged, click Confirm

I selected my 'new' page in the first menu and my 'old' page with all the likes in the second menu.

...and it wants to merge everything to my old page. Lol damn. I'm trying to contact some Facebook help/support to get it sorted out.

I like it when a Business uses there name. It puts a personal touch on the service.
