Gents, I am curious as to what everyone may or may not use "dedicated" towels for. For example maybe one towel only for:

-wax/polish removal,
-QD's, or any LSP
-Wipe down when claying
-Windows

...Or any other tasks or product used that you prefer to only use with one type of towel.

All my towels are "dedicated" and sorted/stored in gallon zip-lock bags....gold waffle weave for drying....Costco MF for door jams and wheels...miracle towels for interior....chinchilla for paint (wax removal/ IPA wipedown), white waffle weave for glass...

Rc microfiber towels "South Korea"
I have small storage containers for each
Car correction towels
Car wash towels
Door jams interior towels and glass

Anyone see a problem with using the same towels for polish/wax removal, sealant, glaze, QD, claying ...or any other "post-wash" duties? The reason i'm asking is because I found a towel that i really, really like. It's the best that I have used.

May be alright, as long as it is not the same towel for claying followed with the exact same towel for sealant.....clean towels...lots of them

I meant same variety of towel, implying that they could be used for claying one day, washed, and maybe used the next week for polishing.

I use the same towels for rw, polish and wax removal. Only towels i separate are wheels undercarriage stuff like that. Drying towels are separate. I haven't had any issues

I'd like to know which towel you "really, really like".

Used many different MF's over the years but can't say its the best of the best nor can I say its a jack of all trades.

Thanks.

Eagle towels are the best. I'm thinking about buying a ton of them just so they don't jack prices up later

Speaking of dedicated towels; What do you guys/gals wash your glass towels in????

Do you use your orange eagles when claying, as well?

I categorize my towels as such:

Glass
Interior
Paint
Wheels

I categorize my towels as such:
Glass Interior Paint Wheels

As everyone has said. It's up to you. We all have preferences.
Color coding of towels. Yellows for paint, Blue for Windows, Green for Interior, etc.
It's your system. I prefer 360, 530, 600-800 gm/2, 70/30 or 75/25 Korean mfgr.

Those that get dropped become wheel or engine towels along with utility towels.

Whatever works for you. There are alot of good companies. My sources come down to three (3) reliable sources.

What I can afford, and buy then I buy the best.

New to detailing (planning my first detail soon) so excuse me if the question is obvious...

But why have a specific towel for claying? I thought the containments is picked up by the clay and you just wipe off the clay lube which could just be quick detailer spray?

I had a bunch of yellow microfibers (most common color) and just bought a 9 pack of Rag Co. 420 gsm 70/30 which consist of 3 of each color (black, grey, blue). I was going to use my existing yellows for wheels, engine bay, and maybe door jambs? The 3 new color towels will be for paint, glass, and interior.

Is that good enough to start as far as categories go? Or do I need multi colors for paint such as wax removal, buffing, LSP?
