I don't know how many of you on here use Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine but I was hoping to get an opinion on its use against road salt because I have a car that is totally covered in salt, but I dont want to get the hoses out.

Supposed to be over 40 Sunday, of course it will be raining. Are you going to wash in the garage?

Yes, ONR will work fine on a salty car, you have to modify your technique a little vs. "plain" dirt. If you haven't done a rinseless wash before there's a few different schools of thought on it.

Never done a rinseless wash before so I'm looking for any help I can get and at this point I'll wash at any chance I get because I can't even open the door anymore without getting a handful of salt.

Look up on Youtube on how to use the ONR type products. There are tons of video's posted. Some even by Autogeek.com.
Just my $0.02 I would place some ONR type product in a spray bottle of some sort and presoak the panel your working on to get as much of the salt into a liquid form before dragging it across the paint.

Sounds like your vehicle is heavily contaminated. I would recommend power washing the vehicle off before performing a waterless rinseless wash.

If it were my car, I'd head to the coin-op to knock the big stuff before using ONR.

So are you going to wash in the garage or wait until it goes above freezing?

I don't have a spacious enough or warm enough garage to wash in so I'll probably wait until it gets above freezing.

It doesn't need to be that warm or spacious for a rinseless wash. However, I'll be outside doing mine the first day it's warm enough. You can get away doing it slightly below freezing if the sun is out and you use warm water and you dry quickly.

When in doubt, rinse the car first.

Once you get sand, salt, etc. off, using ONR should be easy and straight forward.

I've used ONR on my DD when the car was covered in salt last weekend
I didnt rinse the car prior to ONR due to the fact that i was washing the car parked outside.
I took some precautions of course:
1. Presoaked the panel i was washing with ONR from a spray bottle 8:1 ratio
2. Used Lowes Grout Sponge instead of an MF towel to wash
3. Grit Guards in both buckets
4. Changed out the solution in the buckets halfway through the process
So far I have not seen any scratches or marring, but the car is filthy again.

What he said!

ONR is a safe and wonderful product that will work fine on salt, dirt and even mud.
I would use warm water to start. so you'll have some working time with it.
Wash from the top down.
I would use a nice microfiber towel and not a sponge. Just my preference.
Follow the instruction on the label and you'll be fine.
Don't be scared of it.

Put a damp/wet towel on an area wipe in one getale motion, then wipe dry.

When doing this or waterless washing it's all about your technique. Experience is the only thing that is your variable here.
So take your time, learn the product and master it.

Coin Op for wheels/bulk material, drive home use hot water from the sink!

Looks like we have two points of view for using ONR on a bunch of winter crud. For a "newbie" I think that a pre-rinse at a coin-op is the safer method.

I don't know any coin-ops near me, so I'm just going to pretreat the panels and then use ONR as per instructions.

Looks like rain for sunday let mother nature take off some salt then do a rinseless wash
