I figured I should probably get more involved in a detailing forum. I've been really active in the forums for my cars, but I'll certainly learn more here by people telling me what I'm doing right/wrong.

Anyway, I'll be updating this thread with some of the crap that I'm doing in my garage. Check out my other Journals in my signature if you care to know the whole story.

Take it easy on me though. I'm not a pro, just a guy in my garage playing with cool stuff. I look forward to sharing and learning.

More power to you for taking the time to make the videos, it'll take me some time to get through them but thanks for putting them up.

I've seen your garage over at Garagejournal and it's incredibly well done and organized. The GT3 is immaculate. But the M3 is no slouch either. Quite torn between aiming for a new Stingray or the M4. How do you like the M?

What's up Matt! Welcome to the madness! Glad you are going to be more active here bro. It's a great site...and it'll make you buy more chit! LOL

Hope all is well...was good seeing you in Ocala a ways back @ the race!

Hey man, I just started watching, but did you use the same funnel for the Griot's wheel cleaner, and then go to using it for spray wax without rinsing it out? Maybe I'm just finicky, but I don't want any wheel cleaner in my spray wax.

PS I always knew I was in the wrong line of work, and I always suspected that my "financial advisor" made more money off my investments than I did...thanks for confirming my suspicions...I mean you're 33 and have a Porsche and a BMW M in your garage and I'm like 100 and my good car is a '78 Chevette...

Thanks man! I'm not sure why this forum doesn't embed videos like every other one I've been a part of.

I don't love my M3, but I really like it. I'm not a Corvette guy, so you know which one I'd pick. :xyxthumbs:

Yo Scott! I'm here. It's probably time to get more involved in the detailing forums. My maniac website is coming along.

It sounds like you are in the wrong profession my friend. To give you an idea, I charge my clients, on average, a little less than 1% of their assets than they allow me to manage. I just have a lot of them, so I that 1% adds up to a crap load of money.

I come the engineering world, so the transition to business has opened my eyes to how stupid most people that offer "financial advice" are. I used to feel bad about how well one can do in my chosen profession, but when I think back about all of the crap I had to do, massive amount of studying and more studying, and the fact that very few actually become successful, (less than 10% that try) I don't apologize any longer. While my friends were concerned about the amount of sick time or what their cost of living raise was going to be, I gave up that security blanket in pursuit of something greater that was a much, much harder road.

I'm not on Wall Street. I'm in a community like almost all others where people don't have a clue what to do with their money. Or even worse, they think they know. I'm just trying to save the world from bad advice one person at a time. The problem is that most people don't want to hear the truth.

Anyway, if you couldn't already tell from my videos, I tell it like it is with no sugar coating. I'm guessing that's going to get me into more trouble than good.

Thanks for the video "The Detailing Products I Currently Use" link. I also noticed you used the same funnel for the Griot's wheel cleaner, and spray wax without cleaning it first. Seems a little careless don't you think?

I also noticed in the video's comment section when asked if you use Pinnacle products you stated the Pinnacle line is "generic" and went on to say: "Autogeek is like the Walmart of detailing. Pinnacle is one of their brands. So it's like Sam's Choice. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just generic." and "I'm not sure who makes the products for them, but they are just relabled with higher margin for Autogeek. There is nothing wrong with that, but I would guess OE manufacturers would reserve their best technology for their own line. I'm not a generic kind of guy, but I've used their stuff when I was at Autogeek. It certainly works. I don't know that I'd call it the best stuff out there but not bad."

This is news to me, and was hoping you could please share how you came across this knowledge and who is the OEM? I sure don't want to be overpaying for generics!!! Thanks in-advance for the info!

Whaaat? I may have to pm you if that's cool since I've recently started to go further in depth with money management, reading more and trying to just gain knowledge before expanding from the usual stuff. Not as a profession but just for myself after talking with a few that have done it quite successfully.

Yeah man, just shoot me an email. [email protected]

You're going to get me in trouble on the forum already. This place has a very don't bash the Autogeek lines reputation. I'm not saying their stuff is bad. I just don't use them. I'm a guy that prefers to buy the "best." That being said. The "best" is a very subjective thing in the world of detailing.

I've used pretty much all of the PBMG branded stuff when I took Mike Phillip's seminar, but I was in the back drooling over all of the other stuff on the shelf by the bathroom. I was like a kid at Christmas.

:poke:Welcome Matt and glad to have you here. Having been around and through many detailing forums over the years, this place has been home to me for about the last 5 for it's non confrontational yet openly accepting approach to the global discussion of car care, cars and sometimes just plain life!

I enjoyed some of the videos you posted very much however, like others have already said, it will take me a while to get through them all. I will as it's good stuff and i was one of the guys "shaking his head" at some of your perspective.

Whether you use PBMG stuff or not...stick around anyway for the discussion. I have picked up more tips, tricks and technique that have developed into refinements in process and, in turn, improved final quality of results. And saved some time doing it here and there. While i love detailing and remain passionate about it, i think most if not all of us would rather be out driving our pristine gems!

It helps to have an open mind as well. A testament to mine is that, as a BMW fanboy, i completely accepted and moved beyond your "liking" the M4 and not loving it! Then again, if i had that Porsche sitting next to mine, the BMW would be the "low mileage" occupant of that beautiful garage. Point being...i love hearing different perspectives that counter my own and is another reason i like AutoGeek forums. Lots of different perspectives to consider.

Again, glad to have you here our new friend and share away!

Welcome Matt! Hope that Pakshak recommendation finds itself into your youtube videos!

My First Gyeon Products

These products are big in Europe. I was looking for a Trim and Window coating replacement since it's darn near impossible to get Wolf's products in the US. I'll be sure to share my thoughts once I test them out.
