Found some scratches on the trunk lid this morning so started fixing them. Used GG6 with CG V34 and Orange hexlogic which took out the scratches pretty well. Then I switched to V36 and a white hexlogic and this happened! Is it just that I've gotten through the oxidation or what? It's still very smooth and shiny so I don't think it's CCF but I'm just a weekend warrior so I'm out of my zone here. The trunk is very faded from first owner. I did a full correction about a month and a half ago and didn't have any problem like this with more aggressive cutting. I also included pics of the white pad before and after a light cleaning with CG pad cleaner.
Car is a Milano red 2004 Acura TSX
Thanks for the help!!!!!!
This is the easiest way for me to include pics on my phone.... Mobile Uploads by ViperGuy21 | Photobucket

Looks like to me a single stage paint with no clear coat protection. I know Honda (Acura) paint is soft paint. I would not go aggressive anymore. Just a very light polish and then do your LSP. In this case; a coating might be the best choice.

Honda is known for their soft paint. Again, that IMO. But whatever you are doing to cause that stop....just go with a mild polish and that's it.

It's not single stage. I know that for sure. It's a base coat with a little color in the CC(weird right?)
They did that for this color for some reason. And I know it's not single stage cause no color came off with the compound....
And it only appeared with the V36(med-polish). Not a trace of it with the V34 compound and stronger pad

I can't really see the pictures, but if you have a tinted CC that could be all your seeing. That's a lot of red on that pad though.

So you did a full correction last month but the paint still looks chalky like that? What did you use?

Can the CC be gone even if it's still shiny and smooth?

It may be you are JUST through the clear. Usually threads that start with "I had some scratches..." end with going through the clear.

It was my first correction so it wasn't perfect but there was some serious improvement. I used my GG6, CG V-Line and hexlogic pads. And I wouldn't really call it chalky. It's rather shiny, especially waxed

What would you suggest I do now? I had to leave so I went ahead and put on a coat of sealant

Are you sure that isn't single stage paint? A lot of the Reds like that are. Also you usually get a lot more oxidation with single stage paint if you did a full correction and still had oxidation...Lastly if you got that much red on the pad and aren't noticing any difference in color or texture of the paint it almost has to be. Do you have the paint code?

It should be tinted CC. that's the way the rest of the car is. I do not have the code right now. I can get it in a couple of hours though. It's 2004 Milano red if you could find it. Sorry, I don't have a way to get the code right now

If it was tinted clear, you would have gotten color on your pad from your initial compound step.

That's what I don't understand. When I did a correction last month I got some red transfer with compound and polishing steps. But today, only with polishing when this happened....
It's really not adding up....

Looks like it's a tinted clear coat, I know Ford uses them on some of there reds and maroon colors.

Yep. As long as you don't see any spots on the car where the paint looks different or like it's a different color don't sweat it. I have a tinted clear on my car also. I've gotten red on my pad before as well. I've never gotten that much...but my car has never really needed much correction

Thanks for the confirmation!
So what about that spot in my original post?

Looks like clear coat failure (classic sign/symptoms). I'd take to professional body/paint shop to confirm and correct (re-paint). "Hope is not a strategy."

Thanks for putting the pics up! I just never had the chance to put them up properly

To me it looks like CC failure/burn through whatever you want to call it the result is the same no more clear. If the paint is oxidizing that fast that could be another sign of CC failure, because the base coat can be unstable.
