The Next REVOLUTION: The BigFoot Nano w/ iBrid Technology

Pre-ordered. Disagree somewhat with it not being a weekend warrior tool. :buffing: There are all sorts of weekend warriors. :xyxthumbs:

Is there a confirmed pre-order ship date?

You got it Joe. The wait has me wandering around thinking about all of the things I can polish with the nano on the car and in the house! I am more of a reader than a poster but I will give my impression once it arrives.

I just picked up my first Rupes today, a LHR15 MarkII. I really want to get a 75E and a nano now. My debit card is going to burst into flames!

P2000 and P3000 PSA discs included in the kit (10 each) with refills available.

Nice didn't realize
Thinking thatd be ideal for pinstrip removal like how Larry used in the Porshe vid..kind of curious why he just didn't use the nano for both procedures nkw

Can't wait till these shipout!

Cool, they should list it in the product description on the AG store site.

What sizes are the sanding disks that are included?

Is the 3mm orbit for sanding?

I can't speak for Larry, but the approach as I would have used it (and understood him to use it) is he was sanding in a VERY tiny area, smaller than the nano to limit how much sanding was needed, then the slightly larger pad size of the Nano polished the sanded area and the surrounding paint to blend the removal.

They have that info and I'm sure they can add it to the site. Just as a quick rundown:

  • Your choice of long or short neck tool for the kit
  • Carrying bag with custom fit foam insert.
  • 2 battery packs
  • 1 battery charger
  • 1 cord adapter (to run continuous power)
  • Rotary functional unit
  • 3mm orbit functional unit
  • 12mm orbit functional unit
  • (6) 40mm coarse blue foam pads
  • (6) 40mm fine yellow foam pads
  • (4) 70mm coarse blue foam pads
  • (4) 70mm fine yellow foam pads
  • 150ml Zephir coarse compound
  • 150ml Keramik fine compound
  • 34mm hook backing plate
  • 50mm hook backing plate
  • 34mm sanding backing plate with integrated foam interface
  • (10) P2000 35mm PSA sanding discs
  • (10) P3000 35mm PSA sanding discs
  • (1) Hard nylon cup brush
  • (1) Horsehair cup brush

All the items (other than the tools for now) are available as separate replacement/refill pieces. I'm recommending to those who will use this a lot, grab an extra battery pack just in case to have 3 in rotation - especially if you're mobile. UHS, Green, and White foams will also be available separately along with 150ml versions of the corresponding compounds and an additional brush not in the kit (soft nylon).

Guess you have to specifically call up about the el carte items
I wouldn't mind an extra battery or two

Is the next gen of rupes going the iBrid route? i.e. battery + corded, plus modular rotation settings.

I was just studying this...when it is in "orbital" mode, does it behave exactly like a traditional RO/DA polisher? In the same way the other Bigfoot machines do? I'm looking at the "orbit functional units" and it seems to me although these aren't "forced rotation" they are "forced orbit"...which maybe is the same as a traditional machine.

BigFoot technology is random orbital (not gear-driven / forced-rotation) with large diameter orbits. The BigFoot Nano's 12 mm orbital movement is random in nature and large (>8mm).

They are not forced rotation as RUPES developed the BigFoot technology to move away from the gear-driven polishing / sanding systems which they pioneered more than 20 years ago.

Thanks Todd, I used a Nano over the weekend (for about 10 seconds) in 12mm mode with a 2" pad and I guess the feel surprised me a little, but I don't have any large-orbit polishers to compare it to.

BTW, although personally I don't feel a burning need to have a Nano, the (iBrid) technology is astonishing and as this trickles down (or up) to other tools, I predict it will create a paradigm shift in the same way the Bigfoot technology did.

My distributor just took delivery of the first nano shipment yesterday afternoon. I was the only one who did a pre-order so I will be going today to pick mine up. I just wanted to advise the community they are finally here.

Not really my place to say but I'll relay what we were told over the weekend, the first units are (were, by above) in transit, they are going out in waves, some preorders may not be filled until July (depending where you are on the list), I believe they also said that the first year's production is already sold out (meaning that distributors have already placed orders for all that will be available, not that users will not be able to get them). They also mentioned that the long neck is outselling the short neck by a wide margin (3 to 1 I think they said) so the short neck may be more available in the short term.

Ordered mine as soon as it was available on AGO/Autopia. Here's to hoping it's not July.

July for what?

Sounds like Setec heard something at the Detailers Domain event this past weekend. Just hoping AGO preorders are not among those that won't go out in the later waves.
