Hi Michael,

This winter I am detailing a lot of Daily Driver vehicles, and the most important product I will be needing is a very Durable and Quality paint sealant.

A lot of people are asking for this to protect their cars from the harsh Chicago Winter elements.

What would you most recommend?

Thanks a ton, and have a Great weekend!

Every Sealant that AGO sells are really
good ones. Here's a few to choose from:

-FinishKare 1000p
-Collinite #845
-Meguiar's Ultimate Wax
-Wolfgang DGPS
-Meguiar's 21 2.0
-The Klasse Twins: K-AIO, K-HGSG

For ease of use and great durability DG 105/601 cocktail. With a little more work FK1000p--lasts forever and water just flies off of it--stays clean longer too.

I've detailed a couple cars for Chicago winters and have had good results with WGDGPS and Autoglym HD.

Meguiar's M21 holds well on my vehicles through winter, but I don't live in an area that gets hit hard with winter-type weather.

4 me its sonax polimer net shield should hold up under climate change..

I used 845 and Meg's Ultimate. Frankly, I think they are pretty comparable, even though Meg's LSP's have not historically been long lasting. Ultimate is in my experience. 845 is great too, but hard to beat OTC availability of Ultimate, and their UQW is a great booster as well.

After doing much reading here about this subject, I put Collinite 845 on mine and my wife's car for this upcoming winter. NOT looking forward to the winter weather, but looking forward to seeing how 845 works.

For the winter I used DG 101, and the next week I applied 845. we will see how long it lasts

My girlfriend lives in Buffalo, NY and I've used PNS the last two winters on her car. It has held up very well!

Thank you everyone for your great help! Right now I have a bottle of the Ultimate liquid wax left over, so I am going to use that up, then try some of these that you guys have mentioned.

Jet seal from Cg is very under rated. If maintained right it can last 1 year

If you want to stick with the Meguiar's family, consider paint protect 365. It is designed to last longer than M21 or ultimate wax.

Which one is going to hold better menzerna powerlock or 105/601?

I use PowerLock on all cars that are not coated. Handle Chicago winters just fine.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint sealant 3.0 has my vote. I have had it on for four weeks and it still beads like the day I applied it! I think it will handle the Chicago Winter easily!

FinishKare 1000p has been my go to winter wax/sealant for at least 5 years now. I always lay down two coats just in case I miss anything.

PNS or FK1000p are as close to a coating as you can get but look better and much cheaper.

My vote goes to Sonax PNS

If you go with PNS, check out Evan J's thread on application. It makes it MUCH easier

I'll bet that's the Collinite and not the Jet Seal. I don't know too many people outside the CG forum that use it. PNS beats it hands down and it's a fraction of the cost.
