I am about to do a full detail on my vehicle and need some more guidance on products and equipment. I hope this is the right section for this. My detail world revolved around walmart and auto store products, so this new big detail world I came upon is a bit overwhelming. I have done some research, but still have questions since there are so many new products to me.

I have a 2014 durango that is a daily but garaged the majority of the time. The paint is still in good condition except for the light factory orange peel(ugh). My concern is protection first with some good shine to it. I have purchased some items here through the holiday sales.

I picked up a nanoskin clay mitt to replace my traditional clay bar, with nanoskin autobath.
Wolfgang uber ceramic coating with pinnacle advance finishing polish.
Pinnacle black label synergy wax, just could not resist the deal. lol

Iron x, this is a new product I have just recently read about, is it needed? Does it really do what the description says?

I need help picking out a swirl/ scratch remover, I know I will need one eventually. Just need one for light to moderate. My vehicle is very very light at the moment but my parents car need a little bit more help, so looking for one product that can do both.

I also need help deciding on a polisher for a beginner that will grow with with me through experince for personal vehicles only. I have always done everything by hand. seems the most user friendly machines are PC 7424 and GG6. Can not decide betwwen the griots 6 and 3 inch combo or the porter cable 7424 with different backing plates. Any advice on this will be helpful
Thanks for any help and if there are any suggestions you can make, please feel free to share if I left anything out.

IMO you are on the right track. For a good starter kit you can't go wrong with either the PC7424 XP or GG6". I have the PC7424 XP and it has done wonders for me and I still use it even though my main DA (now) is the Flex 3401VRG.

That being said, the majority of the AGO people here prefer the GG6" better than the PC. It has a lifetime warranty and is more powerful. I would look into the starter kits on AGO.

Either way, you can't go wrong with either. But again, I think people would suggest you go for the GG6". If it were me; that would be the way you should lean towards.

The Menzerna, Wolfgang, Meguaire's, and many other combos DA/polishing kits should take care of your ride.

The nanoskin is awesome and IMO you will no longer use traditional clay again. Just remember, keep it lubed at all times when Nanoskinning.

You have a good start as far as products.as a starter polisher that is light has a total hand control feel and affordable personally I like the griot dual action polisher or the meguairs polisher. They may seem old schooled with all the new polishers out on the market, but it gets the job done at the end of the day.as far as compound since you have the pinnacle polish, get the advanced swirl remover very good easy to use products.as far as iron x maybe good for wheels to remove baked on brake dust.I don't use it can't stand the smell and it's not affordable for me as I do this for a living.apparently members swear buy it.Becareful with the clay mitt,do the top first then the bottoms last and check it out on each panel.

For what it's worth, (which isn't much in the grand scheme of things) I will always love the PC..

The GG6 equipped with a 5" backing plate for 5.5" pads and a 3.5" backing plate for 4" pads (you don't need or want the GG3) can handle anything you throw at it with the right polishes and pads. It has the power/torque to handle even the hardest of clears. And to top it off it has a lifetime warranty. 3 or 4 years from now if it should break down for any reason Griots excellent customer service will most likely replace it for you.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I decided to go with the GG6 with the backing plates and skip the GG3 for now to save money. Ski2 I came to the same conclusion as you mentioned after doing some reading. it seems that using the 5" backing plate gives better control also. Going with lake front 5.5 ccs pad kit combo. If i need the GG3 for smaller tighter areas, I can always get ity later. only problem is that the GG6 was on sale for 129 and is now back up to 149. I might wait a bit and see if it goes on sale again. I do have a 20 dollar off coupon from ebay and might get it from there. was wanting to get it here but 20 bucks is twenty bucks.

I suppose I can wait. my ebay coupon expires on the 11th but I can see what happens after that.
