Howdy, just traded in a 2005 dodge ram 1500 crew cab with rusty quarter panels, rockers and a check engine light that would never go out for a 2013 F150 XLT super crew 4x4. It's dark blue metallic.

Since I'm starting fresh, I want to do what I can to make sure this body doesn't rust (dodge didn't do a very good job of that) and protect it. It's my daily driver, and I do quite a bit of hunting and fishing so it gets off road often. Looking good is a side perk.

I started just researching wax, found this site and holy cow! What an overwhelming wealth of knowledge. You guys take it to the next level.

Winter is coming, and I have a 7 month old daughter. Time is currently not on my side. I'll probably just clay it and apply a sealer by hand (after I decide which one, feel free to share your choice) and procure a DA polisher and do it right next spring.

Welcome to AG. If you want to go with a sealant I would recommend Ultima Paint Guard Plus. Great durability, looks, hydrophobic

Welcome to AutoGeekOnline from Germany! (Military) I grew up in Arnold MO.

I would start out by keeping the undercarriage clean after your off road excursions. Pressure wash the underside and wheel wells as often as you can.

Do you have a garage to keep the vehicle in during winter and while you detail?

My dad lived down there for a time. They just repainted the water tower an ugly blue. It doesn't look right.

I don't have a garage big enough yet. It's a critera for the next home which should come this spring. I do, however, have a pressure washer and did a good spray down and inspection of the undercarriage this weekend. Thanks for the tips!

I left in '03 and returned just for vacation in '11 or '12. Couldn't believe the transformation during that time. I bet it has really changed since then.

Sounds good. Keeping the undercarriage clean from salt during the winter months is also key.

No problem.

Greatings from another STL metro area dweller. I'm across the river near the base.
