Well I've gotten a little bored with my LP-560-2 white and decided to get it wrapped. Just dropped it off at the shop today and obviously I will post the obligatory pix when it is done! I'm want to figure out what products I can now use on it. Most importantly which quick detailer.

I've been using "Chemical Guys Clear Seal Gloss Enhancer and Protectant " as a QD which has worked GREAT (entire car had a clear bra on it). But now I think I can't use QD's with gloss in them.

I am having it wrapped in 3m green envy with the Brushed OverLaminate (it just came out, so I might be one of first to make a standard color brushed). From my understanding the finish on the brushed is

1. Satin (not gloss or matte)
2. It's actually textured in the brushed pattern.
3. Obviously its a wrap material

So from my understanding the QD can't be anything that add's gloss. Also it can't be anything that might leave residue if not completely wiped off. I think the texture will make it a bit hard to get every single bit wiped off in the trough's of the strokes. I would prefer to use something that's actually effective at cleaning up light dust and dirt. The roads in AZ are pretty clean with minimal rain, so most of my cleaning involves cleaning up light dust. Washes are minimally required, but a recommendation for a wash product would be appreciated as well. I currently use Meguiars gold.

Any advice would be appreciated!

The following Brands carry the products
that will not alter the finish on this wrap:
-Dr. Beasley’s
-Nanolex
-Swissvax

Why not ask the installer? I would think they would know best or contact the manufacturer.

OK I will look into those brands.

The installer says I can just use any QD that doesn't specifically say it enhances gloss. I trust them. However I figured an entire detailing forum is a bigger wealth of knowledge than 1 shop. They are very experienced in wrapping but they aren't a detailing shop....

Meguiars D114 diluted 1-128. Cleans with no gloss.

As far as protection, Dr. Beasleys.

It must be a drag to be a little bored with that car. :)

haha! Don't take it the wrong way, not bored with the car but the color. I had a couple white cars in a row and this specific model I wanted only came in white.

Interesting on using a diluted no rinse wash. I have Optimum no rinse and I've read you can do it with that too. I just figured it can't be as good as something that is specifically designed for a task (QD)

I've seen the Dr. Beasleys stuff but it looks very overpriced for what it is.....

Actually...
-Meguiar's states that D114 leaves nothing behind.
IMO: This RW/WW wouldn't alter this wrap's finish.

-Optimum states their ONRs leave something behind.
•ONR-W&S...(wash & "shine")
•ONR-W&W...(wash & "wax")
-IMO: Both would alter your wrap's finish.

Interesting statement.

Bob

Just saying this based upon its very generic and homemade looks and the fact that until now I've never heard of them.

Your right, thanks for pointing that out.

That actually points out another question I would have. Is wax necessarily off limits then? Are some waxes or sprays with wx designed to mesh with Satin finishes and not add gloss?

I have used Ultima Waterless Wash (Waterless & rinse less dilutions) for cleaning and CarPro Hydr02 & Reload for protection on wrapped cars with no issue in the past.

I've always had good luck and results with Chemical Guy's products. Anyone have any comments on the following products?

3M indicates that the 3M Green with Envy material is available in a brushed finish and "no over laminate is necessary".

#3M? Wrap Film 1080-G336 Gloss Green Envy (1.52 m x 25 m)- Graphic Solutions : 3M Europe

I'm guessing that has been added in the last week or two...... The way you get it in the brushed is the overlamintate and here they just do it for you already from the factory. Many of the standard Satin colors for example are just gloss colors with a Satin overlaminate added from factory.

Any comments on these chemical guys products? Getting ready to order.

I've used CG Matte detail spray on a number of matte black Harley's and one two tone which had a dark green tint. I've used a lot of products from CG in my early learning days and the matte sealant is something I'd use again. It gives matte paint that clean sheen look and not glossy.

Talked with my shop further about this and they recommended I use Adam's Rinse less Wash as both a wash and QD (in different concentrations obviously). So I bought some of that, some Meguir's D114 and a small bottle of the CG matte detailer. I will try all of them out along with my optimum no rinse that I have.

I got a sample piece of the wrap and tried using a few different things on there side by side. I tried no rinse wash and shine,Chemical guys gloss detailer, Meguars final finish, adams rinsless, and Chemical guys Matte detailer. All of it worked and none of them left any residue or streaks. So I think I can use just about anything on this wrap and it won't make a difference.
