In case you guys noticed I was MIA lately...

For some bad DK news, our main sewer line leading out of the house broke Thursday night. It currently dumps into our finished basement. Apparently cast iron buried in concrete will NOT last forever like the builders in the 70s thought.

My husband and I have been living in a hotel since we can't flush, shower, rinse, wash, cook, etc in the house.
Luckily insurance will cover a lot of the cost, everything EXCEPT the line to be repaired or replaced. It's considered "wear and tear".

Fingers crossed gang this gets fixed this week and I can move back into my house.

Sorry to hear that!

Hope everything goes smoothly and if you need some kimchi, let me know xD

Bad news for sure! What a wreck and I'm really sorry to hear about this. I'm crossing my fingers, hopefully you can move back home soon.

Dang. Sorry to hear Monica! That really stinks ;)

Ouch, that stinks....literally. I am glad your insurance is able to help. I am quite surprised they don't have some fine print that totally negates coverage.

LOL thx

Thx for the wishes folks. Never a dull moment in home ownership.

Sorry to hear that. Are they going to dig out the old pipe, or just bypass it. Either way, sounds like a big job. Glad to hear that your homeowners will cover most of the cost.

As of right now, they need to dig down to it (outside) and will re-line it.

That's terrible, Monica. As someone who had had to refinish a basement twice because of flooding and sewage backup, I feel for you. Yes, the joys of home ownership.

Hope things come to a speedy resolution.

My girlfriend had to have this done couple yrs ago. From the basement through the garage out to the street. Cost 10k

That's horrible...

I was just discussing this with the bass player in my band yesterday. Same thing happened to his house.

I hate when crappy things happen!
Best wishes on a speedy (& successful) repair.

While I'm thinking about it...
How 'bout some "mood music"?

Duuuuuuuuuuuuude........

And here I thought you guys were just busy setting up for the up-coming detailing gtg.

Good to hear no unnecessary drama with the insurance. That can get annoying fast. Hope the clean up & plumbing goes well. Stinky odor be gone!

In the mean time, here's a kitty video to brighten the mood:

I'm gonna just throw this out, isn't that a county promblem?. I live in south fla and had some promblems and the county absorbed it.

Where I live the homeowner is responsible for everything from the street to the house. And if you are tying onto a new service, about $2500 to tie into the sewer.

Heck they come out and service my septic, and if the septic alarm goes off there here.are we talkin same pipes here?
