Looking for an aggressive Swirl removal product. In terms of product agressivness how does the Meguiars Ultimate Compound compare to say Pinnacle advanced swirl removal or Wolfgang swirl removal?

Any suggestions on what's the best swirl removal product? I ask because let's be open here. I can buy a bottle of Meguiars Ultimate Compound for under 9 dollars at Walk Mart. Pinnicle swirl removal is like 29 dollars for same size bottle. Wolfgang swirl removal is around 26 bottle.

Are those products so much more money because they are far superior over the Meguisrs Ultimate Compound?

Aggressive?

M101
SHC300

Doesn't get better than those two in aggressive terms.

HDAdapt. Use it with an orange pad and it will truly finish out better than Meg's Ulitimate Polish let alone their compound. I am a Megs fan and have used their dynamic duo of Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish but have since moved to the HDProducts. HDAdapt and HDSpeed are amazing.

I took my neighbors abused van from this:

to this with Adapt and nothing else except Menzerna Powerlock as the LSP of choice for it.

While Megs 105 may be a nice product IMO there are many more modern products (including from Megs) that do a better job and are much more user friendly.

I replaced my empty 105 with the Foam Compound 101 and found it a great move for me.

Adapt on an orange pad. FG400 using a cutting pad.

Wow, that van looks incredible sir. So, HD adapt is your go to for scratch and swirl removal?

Thanks for the kind words. Wish I took better pics as the ones I put up don't do it justice. Really.

Yes, I have since switched to Adapt for really bads needs like this one. Swirl wise, HDSpeed and an Orange Pad take care of them with ease. This van had several areas of deep marks and the wife used magic erasers and even scotch bright pads to remove gunk so I had to correct those areas, thus Adapt called out to me.

Again, not the best pics but here are a couple more: click on them, zoom in and if you need more I can prolly post up higher resolution ones.

First off, Ultimate Compound is a fine product. For an over the counter compound, its probably the best there is, and as you mentioned very affordable. As far as aggressiveness, its more or less equal to Pinnacle Advance Swirl remover, or Wolfgang Swirl Remover. However, it is no where near as agressive as Pinnacle Advanced Compound or Wolfgang Uber Compound, or M105 for that matter.

All compounds, for a truly flawless finish should be followed by a polish. I have though been able to use Wolfgang Uber compound and not needed to polish afterwards because it finishes extremely well for such an aggressive compound. Its all in the abrasive ingredients.

M105 is also a great compound in reference to its ability to correct. But it is difficult to use, dusts heavily, and does not finish well.

When it comes to Meguiars products sold over the counter, they have really dialed them in to give the largest audience, the best results with products that for the most part easy to use.

So is the HP Adapt an overkill for correction of swirls and scratches? Should one use the HP Speed for the swirls and scratches ?

I've had really good results with ultimate compound. The times I've used it it finished really well for me.

I too have had decent results with Megs Ultimate Compound but sometimes I need something with extra swirl and scratch power but finishes up nicely.

I had a sample of the pinn advanced compound and it is a very nice product. It didnt dust for me and it uses diminishing abrasives I believe as it finished pretty darn good. Nothing a quick pass of hd polish wouldnt take care of. If I had hard clear I wouldnt hesitate to order a bottle. But for Subaru clear ultimate compound would be sufficient I would imagine.

At the end of the day, the guy with the most products wins. Who cares, try them all.

Ba ha ha ha. Try them all, I like that

I wouldn't say it's overkill. Adapt like many products will respond to the type of pad you use. Orange is denser pad than green or white so with a denser pad the abrasiveness will do more compounding before they break down. A softer pad the product will be more of a polish. Works excellent and finishes nice enough to not require additional polishing. You could use HDSpeed afterwards with a white or green pad though. I did a Ford F150 with HDSpeed and it cut through tough clear like they have easily and removed mild and moderate swirls.

I like HDSpeed as it's oh-so easy to remove (Adapt is too but can be tough if you over-work it). Speed also adds HDPoxy so it's also a sealant. That said, full HDPoxy as a LSP is better as it's full strength.

If I could spend your money, buy both. You'll use Speed more but it's great to have Adapt on hand and to perhaps start with it. I have so many LSP's but don't use Poxy but only because I have so many others already. Prices on all their stuff are very reasonable and their products do go far. Just 4-5 dime dots on a pad is all you need. I especially recommend that on Adapt as it's a thinner product than most compounds and you can oversaturate a pad with it if you use too much.

HDSpeed. It will replace your Ultimate Polish. It did for me and I have $5 that says you'd agree if you use it.
